Oh no! You’ve figured out my secret superhero power! 🙂
It’s awesome you’ve composed some stuff! Do the songs have words or are they just instrumentals/soundtrack?

Just like what Kate Flournoy said:
“As far as reading books with a bad worldview like that, in the end they’re just books and no one who reads them with their head screwed on straight and their eyes on Christ is gonna get burned.”
I wholeheartedly agree. Just because the author presents a certain worldview (author bias) doesn’t mean t…[Read more]

I think the reason I didn’t actually start lessons with a teacher until recently was because there hadn’t been a piano teacher near where we lived until we came to Idaho.
Thanks for the encouragement! Sometimes it seems as though you’re completely aimless, but God has it under control. 🙂

Way to go on learning your numerous instruments! For guitar, I suggest that you look into the eMedia cd-rom courses. I got the guitar deluxe pack for $100 and I have made remarkable progress so far (considering my less-than-amateur status before I started the program). Their courses are not usually that expensive, usually around…[Read more]

Definitely Slua hands down. I normally wouldn’t choose it, but the names of your creatures sound like they would work well with Slua.
If you have any more questions, please let me know!

I have just started writing quality songs. Note how I said quality. 🙂 The stuff I came up with before was not up to par…
I have been playing piano for around 9 years and I am currently learning guitar and voice. I also play with some other random instruments, like some bongos (and other drums), Irish penny whistles, and…[Read more]

Thanks for the advice! I try to use scripture whenever I can in songwriting. When you’re trying to help teach people about life in song, why not use the words God gave when he was giving us advice about life? 🙂
I probably will pick key and melody when I’m finished tying up all the rhyme schemes, etc. I used to start with chords…[Read more] -

I think you’ve pinpointed a certain problem a lot of beginning songwriters have:
Saying more than one message in the song.
For example, lets say that you are intending to write a song on how God is all powerful.
You might reference both His justice and His goodness, but you will be focusing on one thing. Otherwise, your audience…[Read more] -

I haven’t seen you around until now. Funny how our paths haven’t crossed yet, since I’ve been here for at least half a year or more…
The song I’m writing is going to be an upbeat, guitar driven song (in the southern rock/blues/country style).

Actually, I’ve seen a jousting tournament at a Renaissance fair awhile back! I don’t think there were any limits on how many people could enter, as long as they were supporting their liege lord in the lists (on the jousting field). If anybody says otherwise, know that I am not an expert in everything medieval, but I have a…[Read more]

Thanks for the advice man! I usually start by thinking of a message (or a line), and build from there. I used to start with chords, but that really got me nowhere. Once again, thanks for the help! 🙂

Ha, forgot another question. About the XXAA rhyme scheme—what rhyme would classify as an X line? Why would this be called XXAA instead of BBAA, if you know what I mean?
Sorry I’m asking so many questions. This whole songwriting thing is really intriguing. When I was studying poetry for school, I didn’t pay much attention. Bad m…[Read more]

Thanks for the clarification dude! 🙂
Could you give an example of a fricative rhyme (& specific letters/sounds) and specific letters/sounds in nasal rhyme? Looked it up on the internet and couldn’t seem to find this.

Thanks for your insight! I do need some clearing up on the attachment you put linked to the sentence: Study this. Your life depends on it.
I looked up AABB and ABAB rhyme schemes, and I just realized how easy they are. You are just creating two sentences with rhyming ends (A lines), and two others with rhyming ends different than…[Read more]
