Yeah. What he said. Also, authenticity. The key to any poem is authenticity, but an un-authentic rhyming poem can get away with it because the words sound pleasant even without their meaning, but free-verse doesn’t have that.
And I concur. Talk to @Spradlin. 😀

Your new profile pic keeps freaking me out… I’m so used to your old one I don’t recognize you when you post because the colors are wrong. 😛

@Daeus wonderful!!! Amazingness! Splendiforousness! Congratulations!
I didn’t do too well. 594. But not bad considering I was dealing with a major emotional breakdown from a character who just doesn’t cry, so… do I get points for dealing with difficult material? XD -

Kate Flournoy replied to the topic Short Story Brainstorms in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 5 months ago
@Christi-Eaton actually I only ever write short stories if I have a really interesting concept that bears exploring but I don’t know if I could make a whole novel out of it. I write short stories as little allegorical pictures, I guess you could say. A lot of my short story ideas come from reading Proverbs, actually. 😛 The way I approach most of…[Read more]

@Julia-R I actually have no idea who Snoke is. I haven’t even seen the prequels, so I’m not qualified to guess. 😛

@Dragon-Snapper yes, that scene was amazing. I think I was rooting for the wrong person, but still… 😛

@Daeus yeah… that was my original reaction. It took a while for the horror to sink in. 😛

Yep, pulling this up from the depths again and putting it back on topic…
So, I watched The Force Awakens again. I think I could probably watch it over and over and never get tired of it… because every time I watch it I see something new that I missed before.
The big realization this go around was something fairly small but I almost choked…[Read more] -

Yes, that does sound about right. Some books are made to be read aloud. Les Mis is not one of them.

Oh and hey, on the note of email-lists, I bought an ebook a while back from a lady whose name is Rachel Starr Thomson— as soon as I bought the book I was automatically added to her email list, and though the book was nothing spectacular it was almost worth it to observe how well she managed her email marketing. I mean, several times she almost…[Read more]

@Daeus okay… I think I see. My other answer still stands, but you’re right, I would be less excited about an audiobook I’d already read, in which case the classic would motivate me about the same.
And that’s true. Digital readers don’t really need bookmarks do they… 😛 That was not very well thought out.

@Daeus yes but not sure of the schedule so I probably can’t race tonight. As far as I know I’ll be going all day tomorrow though. Do you want me to tag you when I start?

Not quite sure I understood your clarification @Daeus…

Good ol’ marketing… 😛
Personally @Daeus, if I had just read your book and loved it, I would want more of the same, not some different author. Setting aside the fact that I personally can’t listen to audiobooks, I think an audiobook would be a great idea. Though I love classics, I would be more incentivized to join your email list if it was…[Read more]
