TheAcornman replied to the topic How many characters is too many? in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 9 months ago
You could merge some of your characters into one. Unless of course they have to be seperate. But merging multiple characters into one could add a lot of depth to a single character. Or it could be a horrible abomination.
Just an idea.

I thought this was really well written. You conveyed realistic and captivating emotion. I think that really helped to drive the story.
You don’t have to answer this but is this based off a similar experience of yours?

@daeus Go England!
@that_writer_girl_99 If you research the Battle of Agincourt, I think. Or just the One Hundred Years War you’re likely to stumble across mentions of longbowmen prowess.
I think it is worth mentioning the crossbow as an alternative to the bow. I don’t know how much you no about them so. Rather than arrows they use short bolts.…[Read more]

TheAcornman replied to the topic Optimistic character consistency in the forum Characters 6 years, 10 months ago
@gabbyj Well, I have to admit I’ve never really tried to add humour in my writing. Makes me sound a bit depressing.
Maybe it could be interesting to see that character mature as the plot intensifies. Unless of course you really want humour to remain throughout your story.
I know I haven’t really answered the original question. Just a bit of food…[Read more]

I loved it too. One of my favourites alongside Rogue One. Kylo Ren has to be my favourite villain of all time. I was pleasantly surprised.

TheAcornman replied to the topic How to (realistically) kill a dragon in the forum Plotting 6 years, 10 months ago
@gabbyj Okay. Well, in that case I’d definetly try and keep my distance if I could. Whenever possible I’d use long ranged weapons. Due to their size a ballista springs to mind. I’m going to assume your dragons breath fire so wooden weapons are redundant. A suit of metal armour might not be the best idea as it would essentially become an oven. Even…[Read more]

@gabbyj I’d say it depends on their size mostly. How big are dragons in your fantasy?

@charisetter I’m from southern England which is a little ways away from Oxford. But hopefully I can be helpful, anyways.
I don’t know what your impression of a brit is. If it a snobby posh person that’ll just annoy us. Your average brit is quite the opposite. Although it is kinda hard to say what an average brit is. It is so diverse for such a…[Read more]
