@seekjustice Copy @alia‘s answer, and add that Cinderella’s figure and face indicate that she is at least eighteen years old, a legal adult, and while that may not be moral grounds for disobedience, it is legal. Then, you also have the fact that Lady Tremain never adopted Cinderella (probably not legally, and certainly not into her heart,) and…[Read more]

@seekjustice Warning: Rant ahead. 😛
I get so annoyed when people put up those memes like the ones about Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, like “finds dead body in the woods; Kisses it.” I mean, it’s like those people forgot the whole plot of the movie! Both of those princes had already met and fallen in love with the girls, and the girls as w…[Read more]

@seekjustice I am extremely proud of myself. Today, (so far,) I wrote 1236 words with one hand!! 😛 Daughter of Judas is growing despite all the vain efforts of that villain, Poison Ivy! 😛 😛

@alia So exciting! 😀 😀 😀 I’m sure you’ll enjoy it, Where are you seeing it?
@catwing Goats?! You got goats?!!! Those absolutely wonderful, amazingly adorable, and perfectly terrific creatures? They’re my favorite animals! We had pygmies for a long time and their babies were the cutest, most adorable things ever!! (whoops! I used “adora…[Read more]

@seekjustice Not by a long shot!!!! 😛 I was just using that as an example. Actually the most noticeable inaccuracy is that the real newsboys’ average age was probably around ten or twelve, so the sixteen- to twenty-year-old guys seem quite strange.
…but they’re good dancers! 😛
@valtmy Actually, since yours is a parody in the first place, I…[Read more]

@seekjustice Was that during a performance, or was that when she was alone with her friends? Because if it was the former, I completely agree, but if the latter, I don’t care a bit. 😛

@valtmy Haha! 😛 Don’t worry, I don’t think I will. But yeah, that’s me. I get so horribly annoyed if the actors say a slang word that wasn’t invented yet, (talking about Newsies, @seekjustice ) if the skirts are two inches too short or too long, (can’t always tell, except for a few specific periods) or especially if the characters act like m…[Read more]

@seekjustive Oh, I don’t know. I thought of a couple when writing that, but my brain is mixed up now and I can only remember one:
Rose Marie (1936) Is a musical about an opera singer who goes to the wilds of Canada in search of her brother. A huge climax near the end of the film involves her having a mental breakdown during an opera p…[Read more]

@seekjustice I prefer musical theater to opera (usually) as well, but I also am a stickler for accuracy. The entire story revolves around the fact that Christine has a beautiful, classically trained operatic voice, and that she sings in the opera. Therefore the fact that they cast women with obviously Broadway style voices to sing songs that b…[Read more]

@catwing Haha. As someone who allows mainly the parents to die, but saves the children alive, wouldn’t that make you similar to Disney? 😛
@seekjustice Don’t they put on what’s supposed to be an operatic production? The costumes certainly nod to opera costumery.
Not killing parents does not make the deaths less, it only makes them different. 😉

@seekjustice No, I definitely wouldn’t want to read it. I have no idea what the original characters were like. I just know Phoebus was really nice in the ’23 version, and that in both versions Esmerelda was an adult.
Maybe you would enjoy the “cleaned up and adjusted” versions better. 😛
Well, I don’t like the Phantom anyway, so no argument t…[Read more]

@catwing Poor Gary! 🙁
Lesson to all book characters: Never try to learn more than is good for you, and if you do, and someone threatens to eliminate you, go to the police, then get your CC permit. 😛

@seekjustice I can’t write a long discussion post right now, but I just went back and read the synopses of the two versions I saw and apparently they were modified a bit so not everyone dies, 😛
The 1923 version, (a really big film in it’s time) changed the story drastically, allowing Phoebus to survive with Esmerelda. 😀
The classic Charles…[Read more]

@catwing I’m sorry! I meant to say something like “that’s great!” in the last post, but I’m having trouble typing and I guess I got mixed up.
@valtmy Thanks! What are you working on?
@seekjustice Hm, well, I wonder if the adaptions I saw changed anything? Because I got the impression the story was sad, but I was happy by the end. At lea…[Read more]

@seekjustice Haha! Oh, what fun! 😀
Do you mean the French musical?
And, which movie did you see? Because there have probably been fifteen adaptions or so. I’ve seen two that I recall, one a silent film. 😉
@catwing Hello! I’m attempting a little bit of research about New Testament geography and customs.

@seekjustice Hi!
Still Marie Antoinette?
I was watching an interview-ish thing with Charles Laughton today and began to wonder what a retelling of the Hunchback of Notre Dame would look like. 😉
How do you like The Hunchback?
