@dekreel Well, if it’s just a page of fifteen people saying “Welcome to the bestistest place on the Internet” or whatever, I might skim it.

@rochellaine *sigh* Yes, I have done that. It was, of course, painstakingly tiresome, but it needed to be done.
Your story sounds interesting. Very original. *thinks: Why can’t I come up with ideas like that?* 😉

@rochellaine Semi-dystopian might work. Although the world’s not falling apart. 😉
To answer your questions:
Third person. Though I have been known to change my mind in the middle of a story. 🙂
The protagonist is a girl. I usually write male protagonists, but this story just felt like it needed a girl.
What’s your his-fic story about?

Ben Powell replied to the topic Writer's Corner #13 in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 9 months ago
@rochellaine A culture-focused time travel story…that sounds like an interesting premise. 😀
Well, the political situation at the time is slightly altered from our present one. It’s what it /could/ be like in a few years. Besides that, the story could be contemporary.

@rochellaine Well…it’s actually hard to tell at the moment. It’s set in the near future, but it’s not really sci-fi. I don’t know what to call it.
Isn’t it cool how music inspires us like that? 🙂

@rochellaine Yup! I’m working on the beginning of a story that’s been floating around in my head for a while…

. . .Two years later. . .
This was a great idea! Whatever happened to it?
(Yes, I am systematically browsing every page of the 84 pages of KP forum topics. It’s kind of fun, actually.)

Ben Powell replied to the topic Best Cover Designs in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 9 months ago
@mnvalentine I really don’t like covers that have the main character on them, because they never look the way I imagine them to. 🙂 I prefer simplistic covers that hint at a part of the story.
In my opinion, that’s a great cover. Also, @daeus ‘s Golden Ziggurat is especially good.
Something like The Way of Kings (see @sam-kowal ‘s post) w…[Read more]

Wow. I am EXTREMELY late. Somehow I missed this thread until now. But then I saw you had Vin as your profile pic and just had to comment! 😉
I am currently reading Hero of Ages (Mistborn book 3). I only discovered Brandon Sanderson earlier this year when I started Steelheart…and then I read the entire Reckoners Trilogy in a week.…[Read more]

That dolphins, dolphins, are the greatest creatures EVER and DO NOT BOTHER DENYING IT
😀 Yes… they’ve always seemed a bit arrogant, haven’t they?

@rochellaine I seem to have a problem writing anything funny. This is my third try. Anyways, here goes…
A Hole in My Blanket
There’s a hole in my blanket. That just isn’t right!
The world can’t go on if I’m shivering all night!
This blanket is my warmth, my very best friend.
I don’t know what I’ll do if—“Wait, this is your blanket? Mine i…[Read more]

@clairec Hehe…well, I have a blog, yes, but I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing. I’m just writing posts about anything and everything. Maybe someday I’ll get more writing-focused.
I like the For the Faith website, though. If I have any advice, I guess I’d just say don’t stress too much over it.

@sam-kowal Wow… I wish I had come up with this idea. Sounds great!
I like the unique voice of the synopsis, but the way it ends doesn’t leave me with much anticipation or dread or anything, just the feeling of “Oh, they’ll build exosuits and win the day.” It could use a bit more of a cliffhanger, I think.

@devastate-lasting That actually looks really useful! Unfortunately, I’m stubborn and don’t want to pay $9/month.
Really, I’d say you have good marketing skills. Your slightly rambling discourse draws me in a lot more than a flashing sign saying “FREE!! SIGN UP NOW!!”
So, yeah. Good job. You convinced me to click on the link. 😉
