I just looked up the genre conventions of dystopian fiction and my novel includes all of them, though they are pretty severely underdeveloped 😀

I know, I seem to have worked myself into a tight genre spot. I can’t really think what I could market it as though. It doesn’t really fit anyway.
Oh well, I’ll see how it turns out after the third draft.

I know. But I’m so easily distracted! And yes, I know you want to read Wattle Fire 😀
oh, and I liked what you said about the worldbuilding. That actually makes a lot of sense, because I’m not entirely sure why I find the worldbuilding for SFI so difficult, since I’ve found the worldbuilding for Wattle Fire, which has a lot more intense…[Read more]

Maybe I just like letters? I write a lot in real life.
I’ll have to think over all the stuff you’ve said, but I did just want to point out that he does move from the Capital to his current house. He grew up in the Capital and that’s where his business was. He moved to his cool garden after the financial crisis.

Yes, I’d thought about some of those consequences but I hadn’t actually thought about Sapphire’s mother. I really should do something with her…she kind of only existed to explain why Sapphire and Chessy had no mother. And I’ve been thinking about the details of the ID system, but that’s a conversation for another time.
#2 That’s true. I…[Read more]

For some reason I never got notified that you’d replied 😀
I know, I’m so easily distracted! (and yes, I’m waiting eagerly for the next part!)
most of them, a few pulled out, but I have several thousand (getting close to 15-20k) words worth of feedback, so I have enough to go on.
I was considering talking to @rochellaine about it…[Read more]

I’ll be around for a bit 😀 I’m supposed to be drafting, but instead I’m pondering problems in Stars Fill Infinity.

I might pass on this one. I’m currently just cleaning up a little.
Scrivener doesn’t have Australian spelling (Word does though) so I have to use Canadian spelling, but it doesn’t recognise all those unique Aussie words 😛

@catwing I added most of my character names to the dictionary on my computer, but new ones still come up with red lines, particularly Yilla for whatever reason.
Maybe the Word processor is the reason we have intoxicated water and disembowelled voices?

Well done! It appears I am not so distracted now that I don’t have to deal with little brothers and sausages.
I typed it into my own Word processor and it wants to change it to “Tripled”. as if that makes any sense whatsoever?
Want to word war again, guys?

Thank you.
I think it does the blue line to indicate that you’ve used the wrong word, from memory?

I don’t know! I’ll go broke at this rate.
@catwing Cool. I’ll put my timer on now .
@rochellaine you can put your timer on when you’re ready.

Awesome! Ten or fifteen minutes? @rochellaine
@valtmy Are you still doing lectures today? or do you get the day off?

Certainly!
Anyone else want to join for a word war?
I know. I’m destroying my reputation! However, there is another character that must die for plot reasons. And the king’s royal advisor is just about to have his four brothers executed (his brothers, not the king’s).

(drat it! it’s stuck in my head now!)
I may or may not kill her later, it just depends on how attached I get to her.
ah, don’t worry about me too much. I’m still torturing my characters.
Knowing what I do about those Biblical times, which isn’t a lot, I can imagine they’d be going through some terrible things.
