Well even though I don’t write stories, I believe I like them (and dissecting them 😉 ) every bit as much as a real writer. 🙂

I’m glad I went with fantasy because my understanding of it is better, and I can really pull from my imagination. While there is still some research involved, I don’t have to worry overmuch about being “realistic” or “true to the times.”

I haven’t read the whole book yet, @sarah-h , but that’s kinda what I was thinking. In my experience, the scariest, most troubling things to a child are the things they can’t understand, not so much the things we would label “scary.”

No, actually it’s fantasy, but I do like to base some of my fantasy on historical events.
