@dragon-snapper So I got here a week and a half late, read your incredible story, and then had to wade through 24 pages of personality type and Frozen rants just to see if you did a sequel yet 😀 That was hilarious! And I’m seconding Brianna’s suggestion to refer to Josiah as “The Wiser” from now on 😀
Anyhoo, just thought I’d add my voice to…[Read more]

Thanks, Emma! I was ridiculously delighted when I saw it 🙂 Kingdom Pen has come to mean a great deal to me in the relatively brief time (less than a year) that I’ve been involved, and it was awesome to get that little shout-out.

@daeus Just posted this in the Young Writers Workshop Facebook group:
Hi everyone! One of my friends over at Kingdom Pen has put together a cool survey on reader habits for research purposes. He’s aiming for a thousand people to take it so that the information’s useful, so if any of you have a few minutes to take a look that would be fantastic.…[Read more]

I love this. So much. Please move it to the top of your bottomless pile of graphic ideas so that I can plaster it across every social media platform I have. More people need to understand the importance and serious business of water flinging 😀

How does Bible Bee actually work? I’m a Bible Quizzer, and so far I’ve word-for-word memorised about half of the book of Luke this year which has been great 🙂

@Kina-Lamb. Gosh I’m late. But I offer you a hearty welcome to the Kingdom nonetheless! I too have a younger sister lurking behind my shoulder who I hope will sit down and make her own account someday.
Also, random fact about me: we almost have the same camera. Mine’s a D3300 Nikon 🙂 I checked out your site; nice work! If you’re interested you…[Read more]

Gosh I’m late. Still, I extend the warmest welcome into the Kingdom! Also, thank you for introducing me into the fascinating world of Enneagrams. I think I’m a type 9 or 2… will have to look in this further.
I’ve read all 60 of the original Sherlock stories (which I love. Can you tell?). My favourite was The Dying Detective- short but brilliant!

@Ethryndal You are too kind 😀 I still don’t disagree you two (the whole thing was rushed, given too much attention, etc.), and am in general far more fond of Fili, Bilbo, and Thorin.

@dragon-snapper @perfectfifths The quote’s from M.W. Smith in 1889 😀 Even back then people were complaining about vocabulary reduction!

@Ethryndal You’ve probably already lost all vestiges of respect for me by now, but I just wanted you to know I painted that starlight quote and hung it on my wall.

Here’s a fun one that I missed: terpsichorean. Of or relating to dancing 😀
And on a rather unrelated note, can anyone guess when this quote on vocabulary was written? No cheating! 🙂

@kate-flournoy I took a look at the list of the hardest words on the test (http://testyourvocab.com/hard), and apparently they only occur in English less than 3 times per hundred million words. So you’re absolutely right, no one should be taking this too seriously.

Glad you’re all having fun with this 🙂 *applauds @northerner respectfully*
My vocabulary’s apparently grown since I took this test last year and I now average at around 29,000.

So I’m going to go out on a limb here and start my own first topic… How many of you wordsmiths out there have wondered just how big your vocabulary is? Especially when compared to the rest of the… less linguistically gifted population. I did a fair bit of research on this a while back for an article I did on another blog, and I happened to…[Read more]

I daresay you’ve come to mean a great deal to KP too. Judging from the reaction your articles always bring, for one thing. 😉
