Two as in Chessy’s birth mother and Justice’s father? But Justice’s father was kind of a villain as well so does he really count?
So since you’ve made sure to create parents who are alive, do you think you have made them useful too? 😛

@seekjustice I prefer musical theater to opera (usually) as well, but I also am a stickler for accuracy. The entire story revolves around the fact that Christine has a beautiful, classically trained operatic voice, and that she sings in the opera. Therefore the fact that they cast women with obviously Broadway style voices to sing songs that b…[Read more]

Bye!
I thought parents in YA fiction are always either dead or useless. 😛

@catwing Haha. As someone who allows mainly the parents to die, but saves the children alive, wouldn’t that make you similar to Disney? 😛
@seekjustice Don’t they put on what’s supposed to be an operatic production? The costumes certainly nod to opera costumery.
Not killing parents does not make the deaths less, it only makes them different. 😉

@rochellaine
I see, but…
Gary died in a car crash. A gun would not help him.
Kay’s parents (as another example of my killed characters) nearly wrecked by a truck. Her dad went to check on them and they pulled a gun on him. And there was at least three of them. I’m working on the details…
Alex’s parents had swords, but they were distracted…[Read more] -

@seekjustice No, I definitely wouldn’t want to read it. I have no idea what the original characters were like. I just know Phoebus was really nice in the ’23 version, and that in both versions Esmerelda was an adult.
Maybe you would enjoy the “cleaned up and adjusted” versions better. 😛
Well, I don’t like the Phantom anyway, so no argument t…[Read more]

@seekjustice I can’t write a long discussion post right now, but I just went back and read the synopses of the two versions I saw and apparently they were modified a bit so not everyone dies, 😛
The 1923 version, (a really big film in it’s time) changed the story drastically, allowing Phoebus to survive with Esmerelda. 😀
The classic Charles…[Read more]

@rochellaine I messed up your tag…
@seekjustice Indeed.
He found out to much and his conscience was weighing on him. Someone decided to eliminate him. -

@rocellaine oh, well. Itchy fingers. *shrug*
Too bad.@seekjustice Whoa… and I’m just here quietly torturing my characters and half hoping I can redeem all my villainous characters (except for the one who represents Satan. Duh.), while knowing I will probably have to let someone go and not be redeemed. *sobs* But somehow it will be good… I…[Read more]

My WIP. It’s getting to the end of the despair (for now) for my MC so lots of cute moments ahead. 😊 But I’ve been looking forward to writing this part for so long that I’m anxious about it.
Just curious. I know there are a lot of dark themes in both Hunchback and Les Mis but why do you find one more depressing than…[Read more]

@catwing I’m sorry! I meant to say something like “that’s great!” in the last post, but I’m having trouble typing and I guess I got mixed up.
@valtmy Thanks! What are you working on?
@seekjustice Hm, well, I wonder if the adaptions I saw changed anything? Because I got the impression the story was sad, but I was happy by the end. At lea…[Read more]

@seekjustice Yep! (I have see or read neither)
@Rochellaine Cool, my mom is kind of interested in that stuff. I find hearing about it interesting. 😉
Praying you feel better too!

@seekjustice Haha! Oh, what fun! 😀
Do you mean the French musical?
And, which movie did you see? Because there have probably been fifteen adaptions or so. I’ve seen two that I recall, one a silent film. 😉
@catwing Hello! I’m attempting a little bit of research about New Testament geography and customs.

@seekjustice Hi!
Still Marie Antoinette?
I was watching an interview-ish thing with Charles Laughton today and began to wonder what a retelling of the Hunchback of Notre Dame would look like. 😉
How do you like The Hunchback?

@valtmy I’m tentatively on. 😉 I have poison ivy on one of my hands, and as a touch typist I can barely endure the achingly slow process of typing with only one hand. 😛 But I am researching now, so I’ll reply as often as possible.
@seekjustice Are you here yet?

@seekjustice Yeah, pretty awful. I’m also feeling really bad for my little Bathshua right now, since I’m realizing everything she had to go through.
Ah, I think that was the one. I remembered that her name was Mary, but since about 50% of all women seemed to have been named Mary back then, I didn’t think that would be such a great clue to her i…[Read more]
