I like the poem too. It’s one of my favourites to recite and when we visited Barcoo I couldn’t stop myself, because everytime I hear the word Barcoo it gets stuck in my head. It’s “A Bush Christening” by Banjo Paterson, if you’re interested.
Okay dokey
Good night!

Righto. Mooniji and Narara are the only ones I took straight from Australian towns, the rest are all some sort of mixing up.
Kalamooney was a mixture of Kala–which is a fairly common Aboriginal prefix and Mooney Mooney, which is an actual town, believe it or not.
Traumlant is actually the only one which isn’t Australian Aboriginal…[Read more]

It’s basically about the princess/queen of said kingdom who is accused of being disconnected from her people, who are starving while she gambles away the kingdom’s money etc. So she orders a girl from the country to come and live with her and teach her about the ways of the people…
I’ve come up with a few different ideas,…[Read more]

Maybe cliché isn’t the right word, maybe archetype describes it better. Usually in terms of your characters, they fit quite neatly into the prearranged boxes, if you know what I mean? Maybe I just get confused because your stories are humorous and have clichés, so I tend to blend the two separate concepts together.
I quite enjoyed y…[Read more]

I thought you were a fan of clichés? (definitely most of your short stories have struck me as humorous cliché sort of stories) Maybe that’s just me. I definitely thought you liked anything cliché though.
That’s up to you. You just gave me a name with no context and I said the first thing that came into my head, but if the ch…[Read more]

@alia I’m not sure how clean they are…the one I read was fine, but that was just one that my mum suggested to me because it was based on The Phantom of the Opera, so you’d have to check that out more thoroughly.
Ceer brings to mind a “strong female character” sort of person. No nonsense, brisk, strong, but not necessarily heartless. Probably a…[Read more]

I’m not sure the names of his books, but he wrote a lot, I’ve only read one but he also tends to use clichés in humorous ways. My mum likes his books.

@alia That would actually be really funny! It reminds me of a book I once read where all the characters in the novel are actually just actors and everytime someone opens the book they have to play the novel out all over again, which of course, they hate.

All right…the clichés:
Villain clichés:
- villain always, always wears black. Maybe red, if they’re feeling adventurous.
- They tend to be rather tall and thin and have long fingers
- and hands which they rub together when they feel evil
- and a cackling laugh
- also must have a henchman who’s short
- fat
- stupid
- and refers to the v…

It could be interesting, clichés are fun to play with! @rochellaine likes doing clichés and making them humorous, so she might have some tips for you! My course of action tends to be killing them…violently. But they are a lot of fun to play with. Have you ever read anything by Terry Pratchett?

@alia Fun is the word to describe it…*rolls eyes and faints dramatically*
Awesome! Ah, I love clichés too. I use way too many of them.

@rochellaine @jenwriter17 @valtmy
By the way, remember how I was bragging the other day about how few parent characters I killed? I just realised that I’m not doing as well as I thought I was because Sapphire was also a mother. And I killed her on screen, so to speak. I can’t get away with the “but she was dead beforehand” like I do with Zac’s…[Read more]

@rochellaine Did you have a good time?
Okay. Well, I’m attempting a few different versions, I’ll ask your opinion on them when I’m done.
I’m going to disappear for half an hour to an hour and then I’ll be back.

Me neither, maybe I’ll have to hunt down a few blog posts on writing blurbs.
(I’m glad. I know I worry a lot about upsetting people, but I can’t help it)

And *poof*! My post has vanished. I’m not sure whether you got it or not, but I’ll try again.
(By the way, I sounded a bit selfish in that last post, if you read it. I’m sorry and I don’t mean to sound like I was only telling you about my project because I wanted help on it. I love talking with you about my writing–and…[Read more]
