You say “modern ballet is weird” as if old ballet isn’t.

I’m not really sure as to what sort of star crossed lovers story they’d come up with, but it would probably be like “poor girl + rich man + friends and family try to warn them of impending doom + doom falls + everyone is dead = Moral: falling in love with poor people is bad.“

Well, theatre seems to be a very popular form of underground entertainment, due to the fact that it requires little in the way of money or supplies in order to put on a basic show. I’ve read about a lot of war prisoners doing theatre in order to keep themselves busy with something. I was only reading the other day about the…[Read more]

I don’t usually watch ballet. I did once in London but it was a modern, experimental dance piece that dealt with very strange and uncomfortable subject matter…
But I am a fan of Tchaikovsky though so I like listening to that kind of ballet music. 😛

I would be interested to know what kind of star-crossed lovers story your futuristic society will come up with. The society does not seem to really be the sort to glamourise emotion or romance so I am really curious.
I am very nervous at the thought of you over analysing my story when you read QOD. 😛

No worries 😀
Yes, that’s true. So they might not be performing the actual Romeo and Juliet. But since those “Star-crossed lovers” stories are so common, there’s likely to be one or two Romeo and Juliet-esque stories, I suppose.

Hi!
Sorry had work to do just now.
From what I know of your story, the society you are writing about is concerned about the ‘future’ right? So they may not be very into things of the past like Romeo and Juliet right? I thought Jean was supposed to be considered odd because of that.

yes, I see. It’s really interesting! in the movie version of Anastasia, the ballet they see is Cinderella, I believe, and it’s not really a big deal, but I like the fact that they put such interesting symbolism in the stage version 😀
I have been in a number of ballets. Never dancing ballet, since I don’t do that, but dancing…[Read more]

Chessy and Justice seem to be a polarising one. Either people love or hate it.
Everyone does like Sapphire and Quillon though.
And no, Chessy was never supposed to be particularly romantic. The romance between Justice and her wasn’t even supposed to be in the story!

Well, I’d noticed the Swan Lake music in “Quartet at the Ballet” (I’ve been a dancer for too many years not to 😛 ), but I hadn’t really noticed it as an overall thing, having never seen the play itself. And yep, I do know the plot (several different versions of it, in fact).
Oh yes, I remember that story. I’ll have to dig through…[Read more]

Unfortunately, yes 😛
I feel I have improved slightly since then, but I still maintain I’m not great at romances. Though Quillon and Sapphire were met with much acclaim, so maybe I’m not as terrible as I think I am.

So you’ll get thrown into the Pit of Shame? 😛
Ooh I hope I’ll be able to do a better job at building romantic tension than that. Granted, I did say that QOD was NOT a romance story but you know what I mean. 😛

I’ve definitely been noticing that, especially as friends go off to university and lose circle of church goers they might have had before.
I’m sure I would have plenty of fun writing about it. And I did think of writing a romance parody the other day. Some day, when I’m not doing anything deep and serious 😛
I don’t think she would.…[Read more]

As one gets older, the difference between non-believer friends and believer friends gets really apparent and sometimes it is not easy to handle.
You writing about romance? Haha I would like to read that post! 😀 Maybe you can write your own romance parody and give me a run for my money. 😀
Are your old romance plots the sort that…[Read more]

Well, all my friends are really close to their cousins and it looks like so much fun!
That is pretty sad 🙁 And I definitely know what you mean about those people who have had so much success in life that they don’t think they need God because they seem to be doing just fine without Him.
Well, I’ve been thinking about doing something a…[Read more]

That’s the first time I ever heard someone describing cousins like that. 😛
I have quite a few cousins myself (a few of them are in Australia!). Childhood was fun with them but as we all grew up, we only ever meet a few times a year now at most. There’s this weird feeling now that we cousins should know each other very well but you…[Read more]

I’ve often wondered what it would be like to have a small family 🙂 I think I’d find it very lonely, since I’m such a poor introvert (not to mention physically living a fair way from where all my friends live) that my family is my main source of talking, hanging out, etc.
It’s funny though. My immediate family is quite big, but neither…[Read more]

I asked my sister whether she ever wanted an older sibling before and she said that she liked it being just us two girls. 😄
Though I’ve thought that having a big family would be fun. It’s like having more people in your immediate vicinity to love. Or get weirded out and annoyed by. 😛
Haha, right. And to think that you’ll also need…[Read more]

I have wished I wasn’t the oldest before 🙂 my best friend is actually the second youngest of eight and I’ve often wondered what that would be like. But being the eldest has perks as well. I feel sorry for my middle siblings, who don’t get the perks of being either the eldest or the youngest.
It won’t be for a while ( and I actually need…[Read more]

Ah, being a good older sibling, aren’t you? You’re the eldest, right? Do you ever wish you weren’t? (I’m the youngest child myself) 😛
Ooh looking forward to reading your guest post then 😛
