@that_writer_girl_99 Just to be clear, you don’t have to post your answers to those questions. They’re just meant to provoke thought. 🙂
@that_writer_girl_99 I encourage you to try starting a blog, Elizabeth! I don’t know if I really have any suggestions. Everyone else has covered it pretty well. I do have some questions that might give you something to think about.
1. What would be the purpose of your blog? What do you hope to accomplish with it?
2. What audience do you hope to reach, and how can you write content that is appealing to them?
3. Would it be a hobby, or do you want to make it into a business?
4. What would you offer that is unique and would attract readers?
5. Would you be able to post consistently? Some of these questions are only relevant if you are really serious about getting a large readership. I don’t have a blog myself, so you can put as much stock in my advice as you like. 🙂 But if you think about it, they kind of apply to novels as well.
Hope this helps!@emma-flournoy I’ve only read two short stories: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and Rip Van Winkle. I liked Rip Van Winkle the best. It’s a very charming story. Before I read Sleepy Hollow, I was under the impression it was supposed to be scary, but it wasn’t. I recommend them both, though. Irving’s style is fascinating.
@graciegirl I like to sketch a little. I find lots of fun things to draw on Pinterest. I also oil painted once.
@emma-flournoy @kate-flournoy @that_writer_girl_99 You guys are so hilarious! I don’t mind you taking over at all. And, I’ll accept chocolate any day.
@graciegirl I wonder if this forum can handle this many INFPs.
I live on the plains in Northeastern Colorado, about a two hour drive from the mountains. So, where I live, we can get some pretty big drifts, but it’s nothing like the mountains.
That’s so cool that you’re a painter! Do you ever paint scenes from your stories?@emma-flournoy Sounds like I’ll be adding that to my list of books to read! I’ve never read any Dickens, so I’ll put that on the list too. I’m definitely interested in the time period and setting. On a different note, do you like any of Washington Irving’s stories? The two of his that I’ve read are set in America, so I thought it was an interesting comparison.
Your support of your sister is so sweet! Am I right in assuming your sister is @kate-flournoy? If so, or if not, sending encouragement and admiration Kate’s way for her WIP.
@kate-flournoy No worries, I love the MBTI! I’ll never get tired of psychology.
Oh, and INTJs are amazing.@that_writer_girl_99 It’s fun to see so many INFPs here even though we’re so rare! I’m fascinated by the INTP type. Watch out. I might want to ask you a lot of questions. 😉
Have you ever read Epic by John Eldredge? It’s not about writing, but it is about stories. And that might only make sense after you read it.@kate-flournoy Yay! I’m happy to meet another INFP!
Thanks for the tips! I appreciate any advice I can get.Hi, @kina-lamb! I like your name!
I mentioned some of my favorite books in my previous post, but just to save you from reading through all of that, they are: The Accidental Highwayman by Ben Tripp, Dancing on the Head of a Pen by Robert Benson, and Journey to Freedom by Gilbert Morris. You can see ALL of my favorites on Goodreads if you like.
I’m an INFP. I’ve never met an ESTP in real life (until now), but I do love to write characters with that personality type.
I like raspberries too! Do you grow your own? My family has a couple of raspberry bushes and they grow like crazy, at least here (in Colorado)! If you don’t already grow them, you might want to give it a try. 🙂Hey! Thanks for all the welcomes! I love the enthusiasm here.
So, I’ll try to answer all of your questions in order.
Thanks for the offer, @dragon-snapper. I really appreciate that!
@jane-maree, thanks for the pizza! Do you also like to mash-up a lot of different genres into one story, just for fun?
Hi, @daeus. I’m actually an INFP with an equal preference between perceiving and judging. I have taken several tests, and sometimes I get INFJ, but the majority of the time it’s INFP. One of my brothers is an ENFP, though. 🙂
@aratrea, some of my favorite books (fiction and nonfiction), are: The Accidental Highwayman by Ben Tripp, Dancing on the Head of a Pen by Robert Benson, and Journey to Freedom by Gilbert Morris.
@that_writer_girl_99 Nice to meet you too, Elizabeth! I like dragons a lot, so I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. And hey, I like to talk too. 🙂
Hi, @jess. Yes, I do like to write screenplays. Sometimes I just get ideas that I think would be better for the screen than for a book. As for when I started writing, I think it was when I was about 10. I’m 18 now.
Your directions were great, @kate-flournoy! Sometimes it’s awesome having lots of ideas, sometimes it’s not. But I’m confused by how I can still get bored sometimes! 😀 Fifteen ideas sounds good.
I have not read Les Miserables, @emma-flournoy, and I don’t know much about it. Is it good?
Once again, thanks for welcoming party! This is the first forum I’ve ever joined, and I can see that it is the “bestistest” one I could have found! As a beginner at this, I hope I don’t violate any forum etiquette! ;DTo answer your question, @kate-flournoy I haven’t done any introductory thing. I don’t know where that is. 🙂
Thank you!
