Mateo still held tightly to the boy’s collar. Mateo lifted the boy to eye level with him. He stared at the boy. Mateo wanted the boy to feel, a dreadful kind of fear. But not of him, or of anything else, but just fear. It’s like being afraid but not knowing why or how. Mateo had the power to do that, but it was often harder to do with the stronger in heart.

At last, he spoke, “How would we know if you are not one of them? You stay with us.” Mateo didn’t expect the boy to answer, since fear probably settled over him.

I vowed to be friends with the person like you.” Mateo took a great bow, but still holding up the kid in his other hand. “Consider me your friend.” He looked at the kid, “As for you, you are staying with us, since we are not sure if you are light fellow’s enemy. Let us go to… uhh… class.” Mateo walked towards the little fellow still holding the kid.

Mateo saw a figure place by, falling down. He went slung his guitar onto his back and walked to the figure. Mateo picked him up by the back collar and held him up to show to the likeable fellow. “Is he one of them?” His Mexican accent ringing strong.
