“….I think she’s the most precious thing in my life. I’d do anything for her. Is that…how you feel about your brother?” Gabriel asked.
Is that how I felt about Scout?
Oh, sure, he annoyed the heck out of me more often than not…. But Gabriel’s words were actually scarily accurate. He was right. If I ever lost my twin–a…[Read more]

Oh, Gabriel… *Laughing but also feeling pain for him*
You don’t have any kids in your life, do you? Little kids are magically proficient at stealing hearts. He is new to this and he is extra susceptible to her sorcery.

Oh, I do so like how it turned out! I see the coloring is simple, especially compared to the lazer price you shared, but it fits this quiet, contemplative portrait. I like the unusual position/perspective, how he’s looking at the rose, plus the rose itself is just lovely.
*stares at it for a while*

Hmm. I’d say finish it, and if you aren’t sure it’s Barron, take the opportunity to experiment with styles/face shapes/structuring. It may become more like him, or it may become someone else, but either way you got to practice/try something new out.
At least, that’s what I ended up doing several times a few weeks ago when some drawings were…[Read more]

“You said you have a twin, what is having a sibling like?” Gabriel suddenly looked curious.
”Well, he’s not my only sibling. I have seven more—all brothers. They can be rough sometimes. Some of them weren’t particularly nice. But Scout and I…..We’ve always had each other’s backs.” I explained. “In fact, it was because he got a…[Read more]

@rae Oh no here comes the lore dump lolllll
Huntress
“You seem too close to have met in this labyrinth.” Gabriel mused as he took the fish.I chuckled. “No, we’re three of a team of ten who’s fought together for over five years. My twin brother’s on the team, and so is…….my father.”
I hoped he hadn’t noticed the way I faltered there. Or…[Read more]

Gabriel stared out at the lake for a while, and even after he came to the fire that Sniper and I had built when it got dark, he seemed distant.
I called his name a couple times before he answered with a “huh?”
I held out a filet of the now-cooked fish. “You want some? I didn’t want you to have to wrestle it from Soldier or Sniper.”

“What are ducks? You mentioned them earlier, are they a type of fish? Maybe a flower?” Gabriel asked.
Soldier burst out laughin’ at that. Huntress snickered. Gabriel looked a little offended at them.
“Sorry mate, you’re way off the mark on that one.” I told him. “See those birds up there?” I pointed up at where a group of ducks wer…[Read more]

“Are…are there elves in your world? And shapeshifters?”
“Doubt it on the elves. At least, not as a separate species from one of the already existing ones.” I answered. “Shapeshifters, maybe. I’ve never met one, but I’m sure some kind of Changeling hybrid could…[Read more]

@rae Sure, we can do that
also poor Gabriel lollllllllll
and yes, Soldier can be like a goofy chipmunk at times. He also can be a chaos gremlin. The fact that he’s in a confusing new world has toned him down a bit.

actually nvm I can do it!
Huntress
Soldier came back and said he’d found a giant lake. Gabriel nodded but said nothing, his skin taking on odd shades. Worrying himself sick? Or just a thing his species did similar to my own abilities?
“Can you take us over? I asked. He nodded.
We traveled for a while before reaching it. It stretched…[Read more]

Ok, I was a part of JWM and have been thinking about joining SSC (totally agree on your version of the acronym, lol), but I was not quite sure I really fit there, or that it would be good for me.
The Biblical terms, like “Outer Court” etc. don’t bother me. I’m enough of a nerd to like them. They emphasize a Biblical foundation which is…[Read more]

I thought the “about us” had a pretty clear statement of faith. Did you read that? If so, and you still think I should add a clearly defined one then I will totally do that! Thanks for the tip!!
personally, I haven’t liked much of what I’ve seen of Story Stewards and have started clear. Some of the reasons were ones you brought up, plus so…[Read more]

Since there are younger people, I would understand requiring a content warning, or restricting those things for snippets shared, but it should be allowed when sharing a complete work for feedback. Then it can have labels, and the more sensitive people can just avoid the whole topic.

The “Sanctuary” thing creeps me out, and is also weird because while I haven’t been very active on the site, there’s nothing on there that says that or Outer Court. I did log out and checked the home page and yeah…weird. I also have no idea what this is supposed to mean:
They’re probably still figuring things out because they’re so new – wou…[Read more]

I’ve never heard of them, but what kind of statement of faith is that? If you don’t want to write a whole thing, just state you’re aligned with the creeds and that should cover it.
The lie thing doesn’t bother me so much since they’ve corrected it. I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming that they really expected 1000+…[Read more]
