And yes, totally just join any topic! If you see a rp you want to join, all you have to do is go to the first page of the topic, read the rules, and then introduce your character with a description and short backstory. Some role-plays allow multiple characters, some just one.

Both. It depends on the subject. I go hard on subjects I’ve run through my mind over and over again until I’m sure that this is the way. Soft on subjects I don’t understand or don’t want the reader to focus on because it’s not the main point.

I’m able to avoid using the word ‘magic’ pretty well, because since I have hard magic systems, I can give them each a name. That’s probably harder in a soft magic system.
