@That_Writer_girl_99 hmm…it sounds more accentuated (if that makes sense in the context of voice) and also all the ‘er’s and ‘r’s and the such are actually pronounced. (Whereas here we say ‘er’ as ‘ah’ most of the time. XD)

@That_Writer_Girl_99 it’s a wonder everyone doesn’t move to Australia…I think the wildlife scares people off. XD

@Catwing hiiii. *waves* ooh nice, that sounds fun.
@That_Writer_Girl_99 Apologies. XD I’m quite well, actually. Life is good, writing is plowing along nicely, summer heat hasn’t managed to fry my brain yet…all those good things. xP

Jane Maree replied to the topic Book Recommendations in the forum Book Discussions 6 years, 10 months ago
@Sam-Kowal Technically you can narrow down all Speculative Fiction into either Fantasy or Sci Fi to be extremely broad, so Superhero/action does fit in there.
But yeessss. I love those books so much. *lots of flailing* That ending almost killed me. XD

@SeekJustice THE RECKONERS AAAAHHHH *so much flailing*
@Jenwriter17 yessss for sci fi. I definitely also vouch for The Reckoners series (Brandon Sanderson) and also The lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer.

@Cloudy At this very moment I’m a little busy, but sometime in the next week or so I’d be happy to look over your story. How in-depth would you want me to go? I do freelance editing so I can do anything from a theme-characters-plot sort of perspective or go more into the finer details of wording and prose and grammar. It all depends on how…[Read more]

@Jenwriter17 ahhh I completely missed this before, sorry. D:
I really like everyone else’s suggestions for twists. Having the ultimate reveal of her family and mentor and all the secrets in the past being an unexpected shock really heightens things. *nodnod*
As for the blurb, it’s a good base to start off from but it’s long and gives a little…[Read more]

@Rochellaine Sweet. If you want to check out my friend’s art, she has some of her work on Deviantart, which you could look at.

I have a friend who’s an artist/illustrator, but she’d probably charge a little for doing something like this. It also depends exactly what you’re looking for.

Jane Maree replied to the topic Looking for editing help in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 10 months ago
@inkling-for-christ Depending on the style of editing you’re looking for, I don’t actually have anyone scheduled in at the moment so I’m not too busy. I do charge (a low cost) for a professional edit though -you can check out my details HERE– but I try keep it affordable.
If it’s an incomplete manuscript, I would be happy to work through it and…[Read more]

@Winter-Rose ooh I love it. The others have said my thoughts basically, but I would echo that yes, my first impression was that it was a little long, so if you could cut down some of it, it might be better.

Jane Maree replied to the topic How Do I Write a Sad Ending?! in the forum Plotting 6 years, 11 months ago
@jenwriter17 Sad endings are tricky to write, but also a ton of fun. Your character DOESN’T have to succeed in the story goal (if they do, there’s less sadness, in a way), but they SHOULD grow themeatically. If they fail in the goal, but grow and learn and have a great character arc, that will satisfy readers just as much.

@Waterlily very nice! There’s some gramatical/punctuation mistakes, but nothing too important right now. Very good job! 😀

@Kate-Flournoy aahh yes Valiant sounds wonderful. Definitely a title that’d make me pick up the book to look at the back cover.
