The steward: (aka, the personal slave of the judge). Basically, look after the judge, record the results, panic over disappearing trophies, continually ask people “how on earth do you spell that??”, recieve numerous complaints and take the blame for quite a lot of what goes wrong.
I quite enjoy the experience, though each year I vow…[Read more]

I didn’t know you competed in horse shows! I’ve done stewarding at a couple of horse shows and I’m sad to say that I have never found horse show people particularly nice, so I hope that you speak politely to all the stewards you come across.
(Assuming of course that you have stewarding)
What’s your favourite thing about competing?

I’m here for a bit, but I could be a bit unreliable.

@jenwriter17 I think there are a couple of Women’s sidesaddle clubs in England. Yes, I guess it’s a lot more dangerous than sitting astride, but of course women used to jump with sidesaddles all the time. I’d love to go on an old fashioned fox hunt with a red riding coat and a side saddle. It’s a Maryland thing, after all. 😉
Thanks, I hope so…[Read more]

@jenwriter17 Thanks.
Oh, cool. I’d love to ride. I’ve only ridden a couple of horses my entire life. Is the horse show English style? (Horse shows are English and rodeos are Western, right?) If I ever had a horse I’d want to have a sidesaddle. 😛

@jenwriter17 I’m doing okay. A little sick from a cold I had yesterday, but getting better. School…fine, I guess. I’m a bit behind in my studies, but hope to catch up soon. 😉
How about you?

@rochellaine @valtmy I need to go now. I’ll talk some other time 🙂

@seekjustice @valtmy And I do not drink beet juice or put pickled beets on my hamburgers. I have them on salad.
I would not be averse to trying beets on hamburgers, though. If I remember to do so I’ll let you know what I think.

@valtmy 😀 Food conversations are fascinating.

This is exactly what I mean. No one eats pickled beetroot on burgers excepting Australians.

Yep, pretty much 😛
Here American food is categorised by MacDonalds, KFC and Hungry Jacks. None of which are particularly nice.
Having said that, its “Australianised” American because the burgers all have beetroot on them 😀

@valtmy Oh…have you ever been to an American “Chinese” restaurant? (The fake kind.)
-
Rochellaine replied to the topic Writers' Corner #20 in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 6 months ago
@valtmy But even American Asian restaurants are often “Americanized” and contain all fried and sugared food as well. You’ve got to go to an authentic Asian restaurant to get good food. 😉
I prefer Italian, usually, or Middle Eastern. What about you?

@seekjustice Haha, I have to admit that American food is known for being all fried, salted, and sugared far beyond the tastes of normalcy, and with reason. We make fun of it ourselves, though. 😉 A lot of people don’t eat fast food much, but it is a real thing.
Wait…there are people who don’t eat pb&j??? Are you serious? Wow. Have you ever…[Read more]

The number one at the moment is your propensity to deep fry everything, closely followed by peanut butter and jelly/jam and the fact that you don’t eat beetroot on burgers.

@seekjustice 😛
The question is…what are American culinary tastes? We have such a mixture here, since we’re a melting pot of all nations. 😉
What particular tastes do they think the general population has that are worth maligning?

@valtmy welcome!
My brother and sister are currently maligning American culinary tastes 😛
