Oh, @kate-flournoy , your “Dawn” poem is really, really good too. The only reason I scrutinized it so much is because you had awesome conflicting edits. I want to write poetry like you do. 🙂

I can’t decide if snakes are just devious, or if they’re simply in the wrong places at the wrong times . . .

It’s okay, @bluejay . I whacked the evil snake with a stick, who slithered off, and the chick was just fine . . . a little terrified, but fine. 🙂

You’re kidding! My sister had a copperhead snake lunge and snap at her heel when she was on her bike once. Scared her to death. Probably has something to do with her hatred of them . . .

My sister hates snakes, but I just don’t like them hiding in my hay shed . . . or getting caught in the runners of the sliding barn doors and dangling over my head . . . or curled up right where I’m about to sit down in the grass . . . or trying to squeeze my baby chicks to death.
