(I feel like pre-destination-related stuff is one of those things that divide Christians more than it should (I just looked up reformed baptist (which I wasn’t familiar with too much) and saw that it is basically baptist + Calvinism (two sects I do know a bit about)) so I may be wrong as I am just drawing a conclusion). Personally,…[Read more]

(The odds of Christianity being outlawed are slim. It is more likely to be (in this very hypothetical scenario) a state-controlled Christianity or a ban on aspects of Christianity. I doubt that would happen right now though (I think the hypothetical fascist revolution would happen first(/be more likely) (which would also lead to a…[Read more]

(I was never arguing for complete evolution. God clearly made Humans separate from other animals and on the different days of creation made specific types of creatures.  I am saying that I think it likely that during Noah’s time there were less animals (and that it is possible these were only ancestor animals of stuff around to…[Read more]

He was just a man, and didn’t have all the answers, but he had a degree of competence that is rarely scene, and therefore should be acknowledged properly before dismissing it
What do you mean by degree of competence? Is not all of history a game where we must incorporate the fact that things have bias? Is prediction just a guess? I…[Read more]

You say He knows everything possible to know in the present, is that a distinction between plainly Everything everything in the present? If so, what is that distinction, and why do you believe it is there?
(No distinction. He knows everything everything. The whole idea around this is basically that if you knew everything about one point (and had…[Read more]

You are correct 🎊. It is Stalin. I don’t know about the seminary thing. You are correct on the seminary thing (I looked it up. Apparently he was a dropout). When I first saw this image I couldn’t guess it either. My AP euro teacher showed him to our class and one of the girls was like “he actually looks kind of hot”.

Otherworldly Historian replied to the topic How to write a meaninful character death? in the forum Characters 1 year, 8 months ago
Yea. G.R.R. Martin is really renowned for his character deaths. I have read multiple articles using this one MC from Game of Thrones that *spoilers (though I doubt any of us will read Game of Thrones because … well you know)* who is like the main character of the first book but gets killed.
GOT is important in the…[Read more]

I am almost certain you have done some research on him as you are writing a WW2 historical fiction. In this image, he is younger than most images of him that you see. He is actually really famous. His name starts with a S.

Yess!!!! Your character’s death is a very good one. Honestly, as long as it accomplishes something your readers won’t feel betrayed. Your idea actually seems really good. Good character deaths can really help make a story feel real (especially when it is an MC) and also make things really powerful.
Also here is a quote…[Read more]

( I have not been to Ark Encounter but my grandparents have.
For the question of Noah’s ark (and getting the animals inside), I would personally use evolution to explain it (I feel like evolution gets a bad rap because some people take evolution too far and try to use it to explain away God. If you think about it though it…[Read more]

Personally for tour first question I think it would be best if the Len’s parents dying was not a specific target but rather the byproduct of violence. I feel like this would benefit him more. Also making him come from a more humble background could be useful. I feel like he doesn’t need an adversary group because it is better if he is…[Read more]

Hi.
I don’t think we have met before (I am much much newer). Nice to see you have returned.
I guess I should introduce myself then. I am a sophomore who goes to a magnet school. I like tabletop gaming, reading (dark) fantasy, history, and (of course) writing my series (which is called The Kharvian Anthology).
Ok. So enough about me.
So I g…[Read more]

Otherworldly Historian replied to the topic What makes a character meaningful? in the forum Characters 1 year, 8 months ago
Do you mean meaningful or memorable? Maybe you use different terminology than I do but I feel like you mean you want a memorable character.
I would say that there is no exact formula for making a memorable character but generally they need to be fleshed out and unique enough that they can be identified and have traits and…[Read more]

Ok so me and @thearcaneaxiom were talking a bit about making this in the Magic Systems forum. I don’t have a fully typed up thing for The religions of Kharvia yet (and might not get to it until later this weekend) but I feel there are some on here who would enjoy talking about this (including me).
So here it is. A forum for discussion and s…[Read more]

Thanks.
I notice a lot of events that could be pinpointed as particular allegories to real world events. Would you consider yourself more of an allegorical writer, or just drawing inspiration from real world history (as you would need to either way)?
I feel like I am more of a taking inspiration from history person because…[Read more]
