@Daeus, I copied and pasted a lot from an older assignment into this one, so it’s hard to tell how much is new, but I have about two pages that I didn’t have before.
A lot of the best Romantic poets died young, and still put out a lot of good work, so there’s some consolation.

@Kate-flournoy, Don’t listen to him. Unless you die very young (which is rare), your midlife crisis cannot logically happen when you’re eighteen.

@kate-flournoy, I’m nineteen and really, I’m just as absentminded/forgetful/not all there as I was years ago.
@Daeus, I think I’m CST? (See, Kate?)

@Daeus, which time zone are you in? I’ll be writing for a little less than an hour.

On my blog, yes. That’s very handy actually.

@R-j-wordsmith, sorry, I didn’t see your question till just now. I have no idea how I divided 6 by 2 and got 2 as the answer. The chapter should be somewhere between 2 and 3k each.
And I’m afraid I know nothing about how Google Docs work with a Kindle. Someone else might. Maybe @Daeus, since he’s so keen on e-books. Or @Hope.

I found a good post on antiheroes here: http://hannahheath-writer.blogspot.com/2017/02/explaining-anti-heroes-and-how-to-write-them.html.
@Dragon-snapper, this might be helpful. -

Is anyone else surprised that @writefury and @hope weren’t the first ones to respond to this thread?

@Daeus, I have to agree that “a tale of a bittersweet taste” isn’t really in keeping with the rest of the blurb. It’s more like a fanciful way of describing a recipe for extra-dark chocolate cookies, or bestia nera, or something. I do like @graciegirl‘s suggestions, since they seem to make things a lot more concise and finally get rid of that…[Read more]

@r-j-wordsmith, I have twenty-three chapters and about 64,000 words so that’s somewhere close to 2k per chapter, I think.

@Daeus, I’m agnostic about the first question, as far as how well it represents the story.
I’d caution you about using words that end in -ness, though. Usually they’re made by taking an adjective and adding ness to turn the word into a noun. The problem is, often that original adjective is an adjective because it’s a noun with an ending added.…[Read more]

@daeus, You might want to specify that it’s set in the 18th century, because “18th-century action adventure novel” will sound like it was written, not set, in the 18th century.
I’d advise against using things like “bound to engage”, because honestly, no book is every guaranteed to appeal to someone even if it is in a genre they love. It can also…[Read more] -

@Daeus, yes, when I got a 5.5×6-inch printed copy, it was a little over 200 pages. But that’s not the size that the Google Doc version is.
@Emma-flournoy, I hope you won’t be finding that kind of mistake, though it’s certainly possible. You can point them out, I guess, but don’t make them your focus. Yes, I will need your e-mail. I’ll send you a…[Read more]

@emma-flournoy, I have it in a Google Document (because I don’t have Word on my computer, more’s the pity), to which I add a chapter a week. The document is shared with readers so they can comment on things. I send out e-mails letting people know once I add a new chapter.
Anything, everything. . . anything to do with plot, theme,…[Read more] -

@kate-flournoy, I certainly will. Maybe if your sister reads it, you’ll get a glimpse over her shoulder now and then.
@emma-flournoy, it’s 110 pages in the document, but each page has about 750 words on it because I use a small font.
@daeus, it may well need a second round of betaing, and in that case I’ll ask you again. - Load More
