My apologies, Master Yoda. I didn’t say you weren’t wise, I said you weren’t refined.
There’s a big difference. *cough* Excuse me. Big difference there is.

Ha!
Crazy you are. Like Yoda your last sentence sounds. Very not-refined is Yoda.

A lot of us on this forum write fantasy, I think.
Just a guess. 😉

Ah! Okay. Yes, I didn’t even notice that, but it’s true. 😛
Very true.

Oh, a pretty fair mix of both. I’ve found that combination makes for an excruciatingly long novel, though. 😛

I’ll bet it was!
Do you like to do medieval fantasy or modern fantasy? And do you prefer High Fantasy or Heroic Fantasy? Or a mix of both? 😛
Hm… those terms aren’t so common. Maybe I should explain. *pulls on nose* yeah, I probably should.
High fantasy is epic in the truest sense of the word, focusing primarily on the plot, and usually the…[Read more]

Wow Greta! Hm… who did you play in Charlotte’s Web? Or did you direct? 🙂
Back in the days of sibling skits, I usually directed, produced, and played all major and several minor roles myself. 😛
The only play we’ve done as a family was a play of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas’. That was fun, only I wanted to be St. Nick and I had to be the…[Read more]

Murtagh. 😀
Well, I’ve actually never been in an official play, but I’ve organized countless (and better forgotten) skits with my siblings, and since those days my love for the dramatic and for acting has only grown. How about you?

That’s great! Keep it up with the calligraphy. It comes slow at first, but practice will make perfect.
Who was your favorite character in the Inheritance Cycle? Mine’s somewhat of an odd choice, so I’ll tell you after you tell me yours. 😛

What art forms do you most enjoy? I love painting with oils, acrylics, and watercolors. I also woodburn, do calligraphy, and have recently taken up digital art.

Hey there, Greta! Welcome to the Online Home for Nutcases.
There. I’ve warned you.
But welcome just the same. 😛
You like a lot of the things I do— drama, LotR, fantasy, art… and writing, of course. And before anyone else jumps on here and bashes the Inheritance Cycle, I’ll tell you I also enjoyed it, no matter its shortcomings. I didn’t…[Read more]

Yep, it was Dumas. 😛
I don’t think it’s bad at all to steal other author’s styles— it’s a definite feather in your cap if you can pull it off.
I can’t.
So I’m stuck with inventing my own style.
Ho-hum.
😛

When your five year old sister asks you, out of the blue, ‘Why are all writers crazy?’…
… you know you’re a writer.
Hey, we could turn this thread into a book. ‘The Aspiring Writer’s Guide to the Ins and Outs of a True Writer’s Life— are you, or are you not?’

Here I am at last, Daeus! Sorry— busy day.
As a whole, this passage is much, much better. You seem to be great with dialogue— wonderful for a beginner. I love the whole thing about doing things and doing nothings— so fun. This guy telling the story is a great character.
I would definitely work with the commas, as you pointed out, and as…[Read more]

First, let me say I really liked it how you took a Dickensian twist to the street and identified each house or building by its shrubbery. That was so cool.
Most of what I have to criticize (that’s such a harsh word) has to do with style. Now. The butchery.
I had a lot of the problems I’m seeing here when I started out, so I was able to recognize…[Read more]

Oh… ow ow ow ow… reading through this thing has given me a thinking-headache. Numbers… are not my forte. Whew!
Y’all have no idea how much power you have to be able to understand these convoluted mechanical and mathematical formulas.I think I’ll stick with atoms, neurons, protons, electrons, ions, and molecules. They’re so much simpler.

Can I ask a question?
What exactly IS NaNoWriMo? I know it’s basically when you try to write 50,000 words in one month, but what IS it? Where did it get its start? Is it a competition? Is it a curriculum?
I’ve only just really recently started hanging out with other writers (primarily on this forum and a few blogs) and I’ve heard some great stuff…[Read more] - Load More
