Okay guys, let’s try something different here. We’ll pick a topic/category and each of us will try to think of something different for that one category, and when we’re out of ideas someone can suggest a new category/topic.
First topic— trains.
My contribution to the topic: The Train from Nowhere was late for the second time in a…[Read more] -

@ethryndal So if I understand you correctly, at the midpoint her change is that she understands that both elves and humans can be either ‘worthy’ or ‘worthless’ instead of putting humans automatically in the ‘worthless’ camp and elves in the ‘worthy’ camp?
@hope Can you also post the Experiments in Living for this? I’m assuming this is different…[Read more]

Welcome to the site @kayla-joy! One of my biggest pieces of advice for you to avoid cheesy/cliched plot is to read as much in the genre as possible–both popular works and good works (which aren’t always the same thing. =P) The more you read in a genre, the more you’ll understand what plot lines are cheesy or cliched–and you’ll also get the…[Read more]

If there was a Greek word for “post-apocalyptic gray concrete oppressive state in need of a rebellion and some kissing”, I’m not aware of it.
@Northerner *chokes* Ouch. Preach it. 😛
Now now, though. No story is defined solely by its genre. I agree with your lovely sarcasm, but let us not be narrow-minded here. *clears throat softly* I happe…[Read more] -

@Daeus ha! Well in my defense I didn’t come up with that particular prompt; it was provided for me. Still thought, that’s… ha. That’s funny.

@Emma-Flournoy heh… most of those were actually inspired by other prompts, not original. Due to slight miscommunication I was not aware they were supposed to be entirely original… which is what this topic is for.

@Kayla-Joy hello! Welcome to KP, the bestistest place on the internet. 😉
While I haven’t written either dystopian or scifi (yet— I have a scifi/steampunk in the works 😉 ) I’d be willing to help all I can. Messaging here is just fine with me, that way others can chime in with their ideas and we can all have a huge brainstorming party. 😀

@hope Absolutely! Sometimes I wish that one major event would be enough to change how I live, but unfortunately, that’s not how it works. =P Working a series of events like that into a novel is a fantastic way to replicate that in storytelling.

@ClaireC Was It A Morning Like This?’… not sure who wrote it, but it was sung by a singer named Sandi Patti and it’s my grandma’s favorite. 😉
And sure, I’ll pray for you. 🙂
Thanks for praying @Ethryndal and @Sarah-H. I’ll let you know how it goes when we get there. 😉

@anna-brie Those look like a really good set of Experiments! I like them a lot. Could you develop a bit more, tho, how #1 leads to that consequence? I’m not completely sure I’m seeing the connection.

@anna-brie Using other author’s characters for inspiration is great. And being able to put yourself in their shoes like that as an ENFP is awesome! Understanding characters who are very different from you is crucial to being a skilled author, and it sounds like you’re on the right path. 🙂
