@Daeus @Dragon-Snapper I think it would be better for just avoiding any confusion if those similes weren’t used at all. I know one can’t always (nor should necessarily always) avoid everything that could potentially be confusing, but it would perhaps be better to just use different similes.
I don’t think it’s wrong to use them though, as far as…[Read more] -

@Dragon-Snapper good point, but may I point out that they’re not talking about swearing. They’re talking about similes. Likening something to heaven or to hell, not saying ‘by heaven’ or ‘by hell’.
Yeah. 😀

3. It doesn’t glorify God. In my opinion, as Christian writers and putting that seems like we show that we don’t mind it. Do not be conformed to this world. I’m not saying that you/we are if we use it, but God very clearly does not want us to use that in any instance. Yes, characters make mistakes, but it leaves me, personally, going away with…[Read more]

@Leumeister Er…I’ve entertained brief thoughts of doing so before, but mainly I think I just love my sister’s WIP so much I’m happy with that. 😀 I read it as it comes, and beta-read, and discuss it; so I kind of get a little of the same experience even though not exactly.
Don’t know if I’d have time anyway. 😉

@Leumeister I did when I was younger, but it was pretty awful. 😛

@Bluejay *seizes head and groans* I am SO sorry but I have nothing to give you! *curls into miserable ball*
It’s so awful, ’cause I’m always picking apart childrens’ stories for being dumb, or too generic, or badly done, or whatever, but I guess that makes me kind of a hypocrite since I can’t think of anything better myself. 🙁 If I think of…[Read more] -

Hey, if you’re on KingdomPen, you probably do digital art too! Writing a story in a word processing program! XD
@Leumeister Heh, I s’pose that’s true. 😉 (So I won’t be misleading in any way though, I’m not exactly a writer; I write reports sometimes but not books. I know and love the writer stuff though (and being around writers 😀 ) because I…[Read more]

@Dragon-Snapper GOT IT! 😀
Balin: “You don’t have to do this, laddie. You’ve done honorably by our people, making a home in the Blue Mountains worth more than all the gold in Erebor.” and something-something-something I can’t remember…
Then Thorin says “From my grandfather to my father, this [the key] has come to me. It’s not a choice. Not…[Read more] -

@PerfectFifths Oh, I’ve seen some of their stuff. They’re really talented, though Lindsey Stirling can be…a little weird. 😛
I’m forever indebted to YouTube (and the people who make the videos of course 😉 ) for violin, because I learned mostly through YouTube, and with some help from a friend. 😀 FREE VIDEOS!!! -

@PerfectFifths Oh don’t worry, I have no intention of stopping. 😀 It’s just depressing sometimes (though I’m trying hard not to let it be).

@PerfectFifths You played Jupiter, from Holst’s Planets? Ooh, I love that one! That sounds like a hugely wonderful experience.
Thanks so much for the tips and encouragement.

@Dragon-Snapper Yuppo, it’s Thorin. Can you think when?
@His-Instrument No, the second one’s not Frodo…

@PerfectFifths I love it too, it just frustrates me when I can’t get everything to work how I want it, so I don’t play as often as I should even though it’d be beneficial. How do you make yourself play even when it’s frustrating?
I love picking tunes out by ear too. 😀
He let you play it? O.O Wow!! Did it feel…old? - Load More
