      They might. In book 2, some characters will be travelling and will have to hunt for some food. Since deer is off the menu, hares, or other rabbit-like animals, will be a source of food to them.

      Ahh, makes sense. Scratch the rabbit idea then.

      (This is why we can be glad there are no human-animal hybrids in the real world)

      lol yeah that would be a real conundrum.

        @linus-smallprint okay, ideas!

        • Arctic: This is cliche, but bears (with grizzly, polar, and black variants) would be cool. Or a semi-aquatic, fisherman race of seals.
        • Asia: Red pandas, turtles, Asian elephants, or the flying dragon lizard might be cool.
        • Oceans: This is gonna be hard if you want your creatures to retain some form of humanity. Dolphins and whales are an obvious choice….maybe too obvious. A flashy tropical fish culture might be cool if you’re looking for something a little different, or maybe take a page from my book and do humans with the tails, gills and scales of sharks.
        • South America: I remember saying a parrot race would be interesting the last time you brought this up, and I still like the idea of at least one bird type (besides wizards of course). But if you want to keep wizards unique as the only bird kind, you could do a python or dart frog civilization (I don’t remember if you forbade there being snakes or amphibians, I think it was only insects and edible creatures besides deer you didn’t want).
        • Europe: You said you maybe wanted a horse type which would fit here, but there’s still another slot open. Salamanders could be fun, or badgers, or hares (do those count as an edible animals to you and are thus off the list? If so ignore that suggestion). Ooh, or a hawk kind instead of the South American parrots–the European version of the lyens in that they think they’re better than everyone.

          @linus-smallprint I have a tiny one of those. You’re right, they’re good for basic poses, but mine at least is nowhere near the amount of flexibility for the poses I have my characters in much of the time.

              Your art does look good. I’m a little thrown off because the picture you took of it is a little tilted, but they do look balanced when I tilt my head to match.

              thanks! yeah I think I took that picture with my tablet camera, and my tablet is huge so it’s hard to stabilize.

              Here is my expertly made pronunciation guide:

              lol that works though! Is-ky-a-gus, with the emphasis on the “ky”

              Not in the way Iskyagus does though. He has one thumb on each side of his hand.

              yeah, and those creatures aren’t sentient either so they wouldn’t care as much as he would lol

              have you thought of a chameleon race or are you gonna stick to the lizards all being Australian water dragons?

                Having two thumbs and two fingers on each hand has to be a weird feeling.

                yeah that must be weird.

                Apparently it’s possible for creatures to have more than one thumb, though. Chameleons and koalas do.

                    @linus-smallprint That’s a good idea; I’ve done the same, but the line is more in my mind than on the paper. I, personally, just imagine whether the creature would be balanced this way.

                    I’m pretty sure I’ve already posted this one here, but here it is again so I can compare it to yours, since it’s the closest one I have to it. Sniper is kinda in a bent pose and facing more towards us with only his head side-on, but he still looks pretty balanced, right? And now that I look at Medic, whose pose is decently close to Iskyagus’s, in the context of the “invisible line” mentality, I can quite clearly see it there–a little distorted by the fact that his left paw is turned out a bit, but it’s there.

                    also btw I kinda like how Iskyagus (how do you pronounce that anyway?? lol) has fur over his chest, but not the whole chest. It just…looks cool. Why’s he have antlers on his shoulders and not his head? Was that part of whatever curse made him more animal?

                      @ellette-giselle that’s…..exactly what I have an issue with. They’re all so good!!

                      I’d say if you have repeats, two that are supposed to depict the same scene, pick your favorite and leave the other one.

                          @ellette-giselle

                          Um…. it’s called “Joseph was being stubborn and wouldn’t let me draw his hand and I was ripping a hole in the paper I erased it so many times, so then Amelia offered me a random piece of fabric, because she insisted I couldn’t make her skirt cover Joseph’s hand because it wouldn’t lay right. Which I agreed with)

                          LOLLLLL this happens though. I made one of my characters have a blind eye simply because I couldn’t get that eye to look right.

                          Haha. Well, we have a sort of rule in our family where we don’t watch kissing scenes in movies because, 1. The actors aren’t married. 2. It’s a Hollywood kiss which is often not the sort of kiss people should do in public. and 3. We don’t need that mental image in our minds. So, when it comes to drawing kissing scenes I feel a little bit the same about it. So, I use flowers, hands, or wind in hair to cover it up. XD

                          While your reasons for this are solid (and it makes for an easier drawing experience cause trust me, kiss scenes are HARD), this kinda rule would never be able to fly in my family…..I probably shouldn’t bring up that whole thing though.

                          Although I definitely agree with the “no kissing in public” thing. Honestly, any kinda affection in public is weird.

                          I do [like drawing characters hugging] . I don’t know why, they’re just fun pictures to draw.

                          Ooof I’m bad at posing characters, so hugs are a thing I haven’t tried. Any tips?
