Kads replied to the topic What's your process of creating a main character for your story? in the forum Topic of the Week 5 years, 5 months ago
@kathleenramm Yeah, I like making my characters based on me! They are not that similar to me though, like at ALL, they maybe have a similar personality detail or mannerisms as I do and that’s pretty much it. XD It explains why one of my MCs, Bren, has the same personality type as me though. (ENFP-T, but she’s crazier. Like, way, way, crazier.)…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Probably because I realised that it had potential to be something really good…and that I wanted to traditionally publish it…so I waited years for my writing skills to improve before attempting to start it now…and also because I decided I wanted to try something new, and that I wanted to see if I could produce works that kids…[Read more]

Hellooo guys!! I wanted to set up a little something to give us all some extra motivation in our wips!
So for anyone who remembers “sprinting” in CWW, then you know what to do XD *whispers* go team Fire!!!
But to those who did not participate, this is a section where you can tag some people and challenge them to a writing “sprint”.

@kathleenramm
Process? What process?Haha, this will be a longggggg post.Often, a main character of mine will start out as a persona of me. It’s weird, but I do it. For those of you who know Kadotake— she’s based on me (although very slightly. the similarities stop at appearance) and was originally a character from a fanfic I abandoned. XD

Hi guys! I need some brainstorming help for my Camp NaNo project…
Let me break it down:
Hope, MC, is living in the wild with no one except a stray dog as a friend. She lives in a cabin in a valley, surrounded by cities full of hostile people (who are diseased). The cabin is strange–there are weird sounds in the attic, strange knocks on th…[Read more]

Ooh, great question! I love your process too:) It actually looks somewhat similar to mine.
Tbh, I haven’t created a MC in a long time since I’ve been so busy with my currant WIP XDUsually I start when I see a photo of quote that inspires the character.
Then I decide a couple basics facts about them, like what she/he likes, hat…[Read more] -

ella replied to the topic What's your process of creating a main character for your story? in the forum Topic of the Week 5 years, 5 months ago
I like to fill out character sheets for my MCs, but I always have a main motivation, dream, hate/love, and arc for all my characters. I usually try to develop my MC before developing the world they’re in (is that good or bad?) because I want them to be active rather than passive. I jot down what I know about the character then I b…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Character development is actually not my strong suit. I rarely go around planning what my characters are gonna look like before I start writing. Usually my mind goes, “I want a story about this.” And then I already have some vague ideas of what the main character is like (e.g. one personality trait, one physical appearance trait, but…[Read more]

I’m so sorry, as soon as I wrote that, my parents wanted to do something together and I sadly couldn’t write… Can we do it sometime today? Whenever you’re free. (btw, was your writing time productive?

R.M. Archer replied to the topic What do you do when you feel discouraged and feel like giving up? in the forum Topic of the Week 5 years, 5 months ago
What encourages me generally differs depending on why I’m discouraged. God blessed me with an exceptionally easy project that I’ve been working on for the past two years or so, so it’s a little tricky to remember the last time I handled discouragement well, since the project before that… I did not handle well. XD But I remember…[Read more]

Tabitha Cassandra replied to the topic If you got to be a screen writer for a movie, what type of movie would it be? in the forum Topic of the Week 5 years, 5 months ago
@gracie-j Oh my goodness! I have seen Beyond the Mask! I love it! It’s one of my favorite Christian movies of all time. Very good plot and amazing message and acting (which you don’t usually get these days)
@kathleenramm There would be so many that I would do! But I think one that would be cool is like a mystery/fantasy.

@kathleenramm Thanks for that encouraging message. I have to also admit that lately I have gotten very discouraged with my writing. I just feel like it’s terrible! And what hurts is that my sister and best friend are really good at it!
But when I feel discouraged, I just remember that these things take time, and that I still need to edit it. No…[Read more]

All those helpful author quotes are always so encouraging and inspiring, especially because I know that they had pretty trashy stuff too, before they started to improve it. I’ll just scroll through pages of quotes… and then take a walk to clear my mind. And if I need a break from my WIP, I always have a stash of idea notebooks t…[Read more]

@kathleenramm I always hate reading old writing and feeling like I haven’t improved *cries*
To readjust my focus I usually pray but then I also like to remind myself of things like “it’s okay to not be perfect” and things like that XD
