@sarah-h It’s been hard, but not overwhelmingly so. It’s not so much that words won’t come or I don’t know what to write; I simply just don’t want to write anymore…like around halfway through. 😉

Ah, let’s see, has anyone mentioned that today is Texas Independence Day? Texas is the only US State to be its own nation for several years before becoming a state. Well, I guess there were also the Hawaii Islands (which didn’t become a state until the 1950s) but I’m not sure that counts.

Bother it! I just realized I titled this thread newletters instead of newsletters. I guess there’s nothing I can do about it now. ;(
Ah, yes, @Daeus, short and sweet. I’m hoping to overhaul my own newsletter this month, once I figure out how exactly I want to do it. Yes, I do get the Goodriter newsletters. I’ve been looking at them and about any…[Read more]

Just wondering if anyone had suggestions or good ideas about what a writer’s newsletter should contain. I have a monthly one right now and I want it to be fun, yet somewhat official. (Basically, I want to use it for marketing at times, but I also want it to be fun) And I want there to be special stuff there that people who don’t get the newsletter…[Read more]

Welcome! Awesome username by the way 😉 I love archery and basketball too. Do you mostly just write poems? What’s your favorite genre? Can’t wait to read your poem! 🙂

So, I was thinking the other day about how much more a Christian author has to do when writing a Christian story than a ‘normal’ author has to do. And this mainly has to do with characters being Christians. In a ‘non-Christian’ story, a bad guy might redeem himself and die in the process and it’s somewhat sad but everything is as it should be. In…[Read more]

Well, I’ve written 2500 of today’s 5000 words and am on here taking a quick break. 🙂 I’m writing 5000 words a day for five days (i.e. this week) so I can complete the rough draft of my novella. The story itself is going well, though sometimes I fear it may be a little slow. And writing is going well to, though there comes a point around the…[Read more]

The Ark, yes @Daeus! And we have a Creation Museum…has anyone been there? I have, twice.
Anyhow, I live in Indiana, otherwise known as the crossroads of America. And yes, lots of corn and soy beans. And some winter wheat; that’s cool to watch grow in the spring.
But @kate-flournoy…no American authors? What about Mark Twain (some of the…[Read more]

I live in Indiana. And yeah, I agree with @Daeus: we grow way too much corn (and soybeans too. Which is about all you’ll see in the country: soybeans and corn). In Indiana there is mostly just fields, trees, and houses, if you count out all the main cities. In my opinion, this state is pretty boring (especially when you’ve lived here your whole…[Read more]

Hope Ann replied to the topic In a 3rd person story… in the forum Characters 10 years, 3 months ago
That’s been a hard on for me. I tend to stick with Mother or Father, or Mom and Dad…basically whatever the MC uses. If it was a separate scene with just the parents, I normally use their first names.

Faith Kindred replied to the topic How fast do you read? in the forum General Writing Discussions 10 years, 3 months ago
I think I’ll have to relate with @ivy-rose. My reading speed greatly depends on the book as well. I read way faster when it’s something I enjoy, and I guess that would make sense because you’re more interested to what happens next (obviously). Sorry about your theory, @Daeus 😛 Still, it was a good one…very well thought out. 🙂 …and just…[Read more]

Hope Ann replied to the topic Emotion in the forum Characters 10 years, 3 months ago
Emotion is a hard thing for me to write, though it is definitely worth taking the time to write well because unrealistic emotion ruins the best story.
One thing which could help with emotion is to show the character’s thoughts as well as make sure the reader understands the villain’s emotional reason for wanting to kill the MC. If they can…[Read more]

We did have 8 goats (two baby bucks were sold this morning)… so now it’s only 6. And I think we have 7 chickens. Sheep, huh? They sound fun! 🙂 And don’t worry.. ha-ha. (when we started with our goats we didn’t know what we were doing either 😉 ) So, how many sheep do you have then?
@sarah-h
Thank you. 🙂 As far as structure goes, to…[Read more] -

Haha…Thanks. We tried cows once. Didn’t go so well either. (My mom accidentally fed them clippings from a poisonous bush that we knew the goats could eat, but unfortunately, cows couldn’t) 😛
And yes, it was so awesome the newspapers actually published one of my articles! 😀 As far as pulling it off…Well, I follow a Mexican…[Read more] -

Really? That’s neat. I guess there’s a lot of “farm folk” on here, huh? 😉

Well, I’ve written quite a few different things…but I think fantasy/fiction novels are the most fun for me to write (although, definitely NOT the easiest…and I’ve never finished one 🙁 Sadly, I’ve picked up the bad habit of writing tons of book…[Read more] -
