Don’t turn green yet, @kate-flournoy. E doesn’t kill D. That would simply be too tragic (as if what I have in store isn’t) and it doesn’t go with the plot line. But I may use this dilemma in my seven book series I’m planning. Whenever I get a good idea and I don’t know where to put it, I stash it over in my seven book series. I’ll have more…[Read more]

@adry_grace I’ve never been a fan of the “Which do you save the one or the many” questions.
Ah, but this is such a hard question…one you can use to torment characters no matter what your stand on it. The same with mercy killings. I can’t really argue for them because I don’t believe killing is right. And yet, because everyone agreeing doesn…[Read more]

We’ve not had a tough topic on here for awhile, so I decided to start another one. That, and I was thinking up potentially tragic moments for one of my WIPs and considered a scene with a mercy killing, where a friend is forced to kill another friend because the latter friend is mortally wounded and/or can’t be moved, enemies are approaching,…[Read more]

Also, your sister is writing much better than I was at her age. My stories were barely a paragraph long.

@bluejay, yeah it probably would be. Ooh, I can just picture a super hero cat or something, sliding down the gutter (with a cape!), off to save the universe one good deed at a time! …Sorry, that just sorta popped into my head, talking about cats and gutters and whatnot. 😛

@bluejay… like this story idea! 🙂 Sorry, I got here a little late, but it sounds good to me! I agree with Kate, the gutter would probably work. But you could still add a tree, or a small shed, or something if you wanted to. Those would still work…

I’ve one character who was only supposed to be in a scene, as part of background and setting for another character. But as soon as he slammed through the inn door, I knew he’d need a subplot of his own. He developed surprisingly swiftly…I hardly had to plan it. Just figure out how to get him a decent place in the story, which ended up not being…[Read more]

What kind of doors does your house have? I’ve a friend who has a number of cats, some of which are very clever. Her doors are mainly lever doors (with the long handles instead of knobs) and the cats know how to open them. Perhaps a door wasn’t locked and the cat was able to open on of the lever doors and then push open the screen door (or maybe…[Read more]

Ooh, I love this topic, @vanna!
I have a character that I can tell is starting to change, (what I mean is, he’ll have to change totally, because he just isn’t working in my story like I thought he was going to) but he’s actually my MC (I sense some re-writing in my future 😛 ). But right now, he’s leaning more towards being the secondary…[Read more] -

You know you’re a writer when you lay in bed at night and can’t decide if you want to mull over a retelling of Robin Hood for a family movie, or a retelling of a fairy tale for your novella…

Faith, I love that picture! It’s so beautiful!
@ingridrd thank you! 🙂 My mom took it. I had just been in my orchestra’s concert the day before. Do you play violin?
I wish! I play piano but have always LOVED the violin! Do you play any other instruments?
Yes, I play piano too! Ever since I was little I wanted to play violin but my parents had me take piano first, and I’m glad they did! It really helped me when I started violin last fall.
