I didn’t mind that section, but I definitely know some people who would be bothered. As long as you have a connection, cause yeah, like Kate said, it kinda did feel drop you random in the middle of gore and evil for no reason, out of context like that.
About the swear words things. Obviously, top swear words are out. Then you get into the picky…[Read more]

@xonos-darkgrate I agree with @kate-flournoy
I really dislike things that are blandly clean, and I stories that tackle dark questions and themes, but I don’t think as Christians, we should rely on swear words to drive a story forward. They can easily be implied, and we don’t need to write them directly into the story. That said, I don’t mind made…[Read more]

Hey, guys. Here’s another question. It’s not the same thing, but to reduce spam and unnecessary posts (which the other forums I’m a part of is very big on), I’ll just keep it here.
Anyways, I know that it’s fine to add darker elements to stories to make them more realistic. (not cursing though, 😉 ), but what, exactly, would be the limit or t…[Read more]

Thanks for the input guys! 😀
@kate-flournoy @daeus I tagged Kate because I knew she wrote fantasy…I just didn’t stop to consider how long the fantasy was. 😉 My mistake. Haha.

*sees you tagged @kate-flournoy*
*beams and then collapses*
I think Kate is doing a series that’s going to be, like, 5 million words. Or something like that, she said she had book 1 written and it was 500,000, so…
I don’t think there is a max, at all.
Besides what they can physically publish in a bonding, Brandon Sanderson’s…[Read more]

So….I’ve heard a lot about fantasy novels being long, but Iv’e never written anything longer than 85,000 thousand words. Anything that was going to be longer than that I never finished. So I’ve been wondering…how long is the max for fantasy novels?

Okay, I’m just going to do one villain, but I will try to have everyone have weaknesses.
@inkling-for-christ I can so relate!! I spent two weeks making notes for an essay I was going to write, and I didn’t start writing the actual paper until the evening before the due date! XD
So! Writing weaknesses! ‘Fess up! 😉

Thank you all for your feedback on the prologue!!
Still writing the plot… Mom gave me a suggestion that there should actually be as many villains as there are writers, each designated for one writer. And they all represent writer’s block. Each writer could have like a writer’s blo…[Read more]

@xonos-darkgrate I’m going to stick with my opinions from the previous discussion that @daeus mentioned. I don’t think that you should have them.
1. Not only do they infiltrate other people, but it’ll also get stuck in your head. I find that the more I hear them, the more I think them. And even if they aren’t “that bad” they still make me…[Read more]

@xonos-darkgrate I basically side with @kate-flournoy, though I don’t think that swear words cannot ever ever be used.
We had a discussion on this before you might want to read. https://kingdompen.org/forums/topic/coarse-language/
Basically, my position is that you should try as hard as you can not to use any swear words and that the majority o…[Read more]

Hey guys! So now that I have found my plot, I’ve made a synopsis/thing. I’m excited to share it with you, and not only that, but here’s a collage too.
I call it Dragonfly Kiwis  (copyright D.G., because it’s mine. 😉 )
What do you you guys think?

@kate-flournoy I’m sorry. *pat shoulder* I don’t know why it has to be stopped, but I’m sorry anyway. There there.

@kate-flournoy Yes, but do you do that after having fainted in the throne room and had a terrible dream? XD
Why would I kill you?? Or do you mean in the KPA? All right, I won’t! 😉
