You’re welcome! I’m glad to know that my advice has been helpful.
I can’t believe how I’ve matured since then, in a little over six months. God has really been working in my life, both in my heart and in my writing!
That’s so great! I know you were having some hard times recently, and it’s good to hear that you’re doin…[Read more]

Or, honestly, we could consider LOTR as an option as well, even though it didn’t win. I would guess that it still garnered a significant portion of votes, and furthermore I would guess that it was a lot of people’s 2nd choice. It might be a good middle ground between Mistborn and Wingfeather. The thing about picking between MB and…[Read more]

Awesome! This looks like it will be a lot of fun.
For the ties, we could just rerun them through eliminating the other options. That way the people whose choices lost will decide between the tied options.
Wingfeather Saga and Mistborn trilogy tied on this question. I’m not sure if we’ll be able to fit both vibes in, but you’ll have to…

Okay. I’ve never heard of those before.

That makes sense. I do think it would be better to either have more sci-fi elements or not mention them at all. As it is, it’s just enough to be confusing. I would imagine that if you did write this into a novella, it would fix the problem, since you would have more time for it to become clear.
Is a zip a real thing or is it an instance o…[Read more]

Very nice, and I think it would work very well as a novella! The only thing I’m confused about is that it apparently takes place in a sci-fi world (since you mentioned other planets), but the setting seemed to be normal.

Resubmitted. I’m not sure if you’ll get two submissions from me, but if you do, just ignore the one where I didn’t select 3rd vs. first person.

Ah, sorry, didn’t see that we were supposed to pick one of each. Now I’ve got to resubmit.

Completed. Can’t wait to see how it comes out!
Quick question/suggestion: I’m assuming dual POV and single POV is about whether we have both characters be viewpoint characters or not. Maybe that should be a separate question from 1st/3rd person POV, because we could technically have a 1st person dual POV or a 3rd person dual POV, or…[Read more]

I’m pretty sure it’s just five ‘buffalo’s.

Do you mean solar system? We don’t need the whole galacy for that.

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. Especially if we intentionally keep HF as the main sub genre. Steampunk is actually more of a sci-fi genre than fantasy. Regardless, I don’t think we would get enough votes for that to happen.

(Also, note that 2 pages back, there were a few votes for AF and one for HF from people that didn’t revote after we implemented the ranking system. It wouldn’t have changed the outcome though, I don’t think.)

Sounds good!
So high fantasy it is!! This will be interesting… 😏 (Although I reeeally wanted steampunk to win… XD)
I also would have been interested in doing steampunk, but I just went with what I’m most familiar with, which is HF.
We could vote on adding a second sub-genre. (Although I’m not sure if HF is compatible with UF.) No seco…[Read more]

I don’t think everyone has replied since we changed to the ranking system, but just counting those, it looks like high fantasy is the runaway winner.

I agree with @rae. It’s a normal cycle. There have been ice ages for crying out loud! I’m not going to say it’s not a problem at all—I’m not well read on this subject—but at this point I don’t think we have to worry about it.
