I think it’s all right since you are planning for your protagonist to have character development and a character arc. That your protagonist may not be very likable at the start may in fact be a good thing (because it’s terribly boring to read about impossibly perfect human beings who can do no wrong).
I think most readers can…[Read more]

@introvert_girl Sam really said it already, but you can also add a backstory to show why the character acts the way they do. The overall tone of the story will help too. I think though that the most important thing is proactivity, like Sam said.

@introvert_girl
Character likability runs along a few different lines, and three of them are:
Proactivity
and
Likability in the story
and
DisabilityIf a character’s proactive, and strives to accomplish his or her’s goals, they’re going to be mor elikable. If other characters in the story like them (which it sounds like might be part of your…[Read more]

@introvert_girl It really depends on the individual character for me. I’ve read some stories where I didn’t like the protagonist in the beginning, but they did grow and felt true remorse over what they did and tried to fix it. Those I liked. There were other books where I didn’t like the protagonist in the beginning and I never finished the book…[Read more]

Oookay, that’s a lot to catch up on. XD
@introvert_girl Right. The emotions in my character should be strengthening them… I’ll try to keep that in mind…
@ethryndal This is for the third book in the trilogy, so I can understand why you’re not seeing it. I think one of the problems might be that I’m focusing too much on characters and not…[Read more]

The Gif Hiders
Part Two: The Bird and her Cake
The Kingdom of Pen did grow weirder and weirder for Jenna, but only gradually. After a few days, ever since she had come, she had met some centaurs, a mermaid, another dragon, a tiger, and even a droid. But the weirdness didn’t exactly just rocket into the air until about three weeks after she had f…[Read more]

@introvert_girl 😀 *wheeeeeee* Stan is super, super thrilled
Okay, so, can Stan fly) Nope. Sadly, because his wings are small and stubby. He can jump very well though.
How big is he) He’s actually gotten smaller over time (sorry, Stan, I know that’s not what you want to hear.) I picture him about the size of a large armchair.
What color is he)…[Read more]

@introvert_girl I’m not sure if Irish or Gaelic names with work, since the first names are Japanese sounding, like Jax, Takara, and Taro. Maybe if I could find Japanese last names that sounded kinda Japanese and American (if that makes any sense)……

That’s a good analogy, I think I understand.
It would be disappointing to spend a book getting attached to one character, and believe they’re going to have an important role in the next book, only to find they make a small appearance, and don’t contribute much to the overall plot.
My goodness. xD I don’t think I have a problem wit…[Read more]

Cool! Ive heard alot about K.M Weiland. Her instructional books are amazing! (My sister @introvert_girl loves them a lot) Though I don’t have a clue what her actual fiction books are about haha. Do you have a favorite by her? 😀And ah yes, my username. The simple answer is its true! *kapeefers gasp* I’m not a writer 😉 (I think t…[Read more]

@Rochellaine Ohh! Yes, I do, actually. I’ve been listening to Ella Fitzgerald recently. 😀
@notawriter Thank you! I like K.M. Weiland and Lemony Snicket. Also — I have to ask about your username. XD

@introvert_girl 😀 Thanks
I haven’t seen fantasy/dystopian/sci-fi mixed that much and I thought it would be a cool idea to do.

I think you’re right! I forgot about the Three Musketeers… Hmm… it’s fine I suppose. I should still probably be able to make this idea work.
Actually, now that I think about it one of my characters could sort of fall into the creepy stalker stereotype rather easily. He’s an artist who thinks of the girl as his muse and spouts…[Read more]

Thanks guys for all your inputs! I have quite a few “bad romance” ideas now though I think I will need to write multiple books if I want to cover everything here.
But now I’m also thinking of presenting a “good example” of a romantic relationship in my story… This is weird to ask considering the title of this thread but are there any specific…[Read more]

@introvert_girl oh, just a little novella I wrote over the summer of 2017. It’s not my best work (I might rewrite it) because I was still just beginning to learn about how to write. I’m just self-publishing it with Lulu so family and friends can see it in book form. I do hope to get a blog up before summer though😊

Alright, KeePers, Josiah recommended I contact some published authors about this survey. I’m going to ask if they want to see the results when they come out and maybe if they want to share it with their audience too.
I’ve got a few authors in mind, but I don’t know a tone of authors. Any you can think of who might be interested in…[Read more]

@introvert_girl Sorry about that, I was really tired and not making sense… I guess what I’ m trying to ask is where is the second book picking up? Have they defeated one problem and are now facing a new one? Are they in hiding in the middle of a battle, or are they in the middle of a previous conflict? You would approach these beginnings a…[Read more]
