There is a traditional Korean game, Ganggangsullae, that is played exclusively by women that I think Myeongwol might like since it involves song and dance. It involves holding each other’s hands to make a circle. The players would then start rotating. The lead singer would then sing a line of the song and everyone sings the refrain.…[Read more]

I’m sure you realise how strange this question to be asking my characters in QOD since many of them do exactly that for a living, right? Granted, drama is not the same as musicals but you know what I mean.
Myeongwol will have great versatility as an actress so I would like to have her as an Eliza in My Fair Lady where she will have…[Read more]

@valtmy 😛 Sorry. Here’s one. @seekjustice
If your character were to star in a musical, which one would it be? (Sorry, Valtmy, I’m not sure how many musicals you’ve seen. But I think you’ve seen a few, right?)

It’s your turn to ask a question.
It seems that both you and @seekjustice are rather forgetful today. 😛

@valtmy I would probably choose Yishay. After all, he’s part of a gang-ish group, so he’d know how to get around in tough places and be able to get info from “unsavory characters”. 😛
@seekjustice I think Bathshua would probably be called Vanity (because her life seemed full before, but her father’s vanity – emptiness – consumed it, and also…[Read more]

That’s true. There is a limit to the poetic potential of the English language to make such names acceptable. Let me give you an example of a Korean name: Sunja.
This name is name out of two characters in the Korean language: ‘Sun’ – meaning to obey, submit and go along with and ‘Ja’ – meaning child. Together, it means an obedient…[Read more]

How can it be my turn when you just answered a question that I posed? 😛
My, that’s a hard question. I’ve searched through some Puritan names but given how far removed in time and space ancient Korea is from the Puritans, I can’t imagine Myeongwol having any of those names. Granted, some of the names of the characters do directly…[Read more]

Your question?

valtmy replied to the topic Writers' Corner #21 in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 10 months ago
Ah, yes. Of course. I believe that stories should end with a spiritual victory. In that case, yes, I suppose I can say that QOD will have a happy ending. 😛
Hmm… it will depend on whether Myeongwol was suddenly transported to 2018 or have always lived in modern times.
If she has always lived in the modern era, I imagine lots of…[Read more]

Ooh, spoilers! 😛 But generally speaking, Bathshua would prefer to forget the circumstances of her father’s death.
Okay, here’s a question:
How would your character react to living in 2018? 😛

My argument is that while the beginning or middle of stories can be depressing, the ending should always be happy, because the entirety of our story has a happy ending: God wins. 😉
Even Romeo and Juliet, one of the most famous tragedies of all time, has a good thing happen in the end: the Montague and Capulet families resolve their…[Read more]

Myeongwol would choose to forget her really embarrassing and traumatic first meeting with Yi Yeongshin.
Your turn to ask a question.

No spoilers 😉 But, really, you have something against depressing stories?
Let me assure you that my book is meant to be a cute and funny story. Though @seekjustice might disagree since she’s read Part 2. But Part 3 is when the real adventure finally gets to begin so there’ll be more cute and funny moments from then on and I’m l…[Read more]

@valtmy My first thought was “I don’t think she has any – I should probably give her one…” 😉
Bathshua does fix her veil quite often, though. I’m not sure if that can count, since there are very few women who are able to wear veils without fixing them repeatedly throughout the day, 😛 but it is something she does, and I’ve mentioned her doing…[Read more]

…
I’m wondering if I even want to read your book anymore. It sounds depressing. 😛
Please tell me it has a happy ending! 😉

My first thought was: What other thought would a person have when they wake up in the morning apart from, “I want more sleep”?
But OK, I’ll try to take my character’s perspective and provide a more insightful response. 😛
I suppose when Myeongwol gets up, she would look out of her window and be greeted by the beautiful…[Read more]

Okay: What is the first thing your character thinks of when he/she wakes up in the morning?
