The first story I remember writing was when I was seven. I wrote it with a pink pen in a red notebook…I still have it. 🙂 My parents tell me that I was dictating little stories to them when I was around four or five (my mom taught me to read when I was three), but I don’t have any memories of those.

I don’t even care for poetry but I really like this one, Jada! Well done! 🙂 The rhymes are lovely. Maybe that’s what I like. 🙂

Ivy Rose replied to the topic Why do you write? in the forum General Writing Discussions 10 years, 6 months ago
Oooh, good question. Let’s see…I write because I want to provide teenagers (and adults) with books that are engaging without all the trash and gore that is so common in books now days. I guess I want to help battle all those nasty books out there with something exciting and engaging minus the garbage.

Those are neat, Reagan! I am a musician…I play piano, fiddle, cello, guitar, ukulele, mandolin, bass, and I sing (or try to 😉 ). Right now, my family band is recording a CD. It’s a lot of work, but I’m enjoying it. 🙂

I love crying over books! It doesn’t happen very often, though…the book has to be REALLY good for me to cry about it. The first book that comes to my mind is A Penny Parcel by Avery E Hitch. That book…wow…it was such a powerful story that I wasn’t able to stop thinking about it for DAYS! Actually, all 3 of Avery’s books made me cry. She is…[Read more]

@Daeus I’ll have to ask my grandma. She just told me that we have Armenian blood in us, so it’s a fairly new discovery. 🙂 Your books sounds so neat.

The Clashing sounds a bit cliche. In my mind, I’d assume that there is clashing just because of the premise of the story. I think Age’s End sounds really good with Two princes rise; one king falls. Two nations war; one weapon unites. That and it kind of signals the end of one way of life and opens the door to another. It’s very intriguing. It…[Read more]

@Daeus those are great points. Thank you. And “Sent Out To Die” is quite an intriguing title. I’m looking forward to reading it someday…I have a lot of Armenian in me I’ve heard that somewhere up the family tree my ancestors survived the genocide. 🙂
@Sarah glad you like the R titles. 🙂 I do have tentative summaries written up…I can post…[Read more]

My number #1 WIP, a trilogy, is in need of help other than from this author. I’ve been thinking about this poor trilogy for far too long…my ideas and thoughts aren’t even making sense to me anymore. 🙂
The three books have had the titles Never Alone, Leading On, and Forever Free , for about two years. I like both Never Alone and Forever Free,…[Read more]

Ivy Rose replied to the topic 1st person or 3rd person? in the forum General Writing Discussions 10 years, 6 months ago
Like Kate, I prefer reading and writing in 3rd person. For me, I feel more connected to the character when reading in 3rd person (though that really doesn’t make much sense…). I love the “big picture” sensation that 3rd person brings. 1st person, to me, feels slightly jumpy and unnatural, but that is purely my personal opinion. 🙂
That said,…[Read more]

(I’m going to try and articulate my question clearly. No promises. 🙂 )
I am struggling with creating a believable antagonist who is a terrible person, but not too terrible. In my mind, a good antagonist is one who has a clear soft spot (something like cruelty to other humans but kind to animals), yet his/her bad actions are also clearly…[Read more]

You know you’re a writer when you go on vacation telling yourself that you have enough stories to work on and WILL NOT get ANY new inspiration for a new story while on vacation…and you come back home with the perfect story idea completely planned out in detail and 2,000 words into the first draft.
You know you’re a writer when your doctor tells…[Read more]
