Hi again,
You see, I’m getting another cover too and I’d love your opinion on it.
The first one is the original design. The brick background is not staying, so no need to comment on that. It will probably be more like what you see in the second one. I’m thinking of asking if the font on the back could be italicized. My one thought with the first…[Read more]

@Daeus oohhh, I really like it. I would say yes, probably better to get your name matching the title. Also, a bit more technical piece of criticism here… my inner graphic designer is screaming at me that there should be more motion in the picture. It’s a lovely dramatic picture (love the shadows of the houses and such) but a lot more could be…[Read more]

Hello everybody,
I’m working on getting a book cover designed at the moment, and I wanted to see what your thoughts were on it. My personal thoughts at the moment are that I’d like the font to be richer, somewhat goldish though also with a bit of brownish-copper. I’m also thinking of having my name be the same color. My other thought is that I’d…[Read more]

Here’s take three. Tell me what you think.

Hello, ladies and gentlemen. I know some of you better than you know me, thanks to my stalking Kingdom Pen for about the last year. Hopefully that isn’t a creepy introduction? Hope introduced me to KP, but it took a while for me to get around to actually joining.
Things you should know about me, other than that I’m a creepy writer:

Alright, folks. So I need your sharpest analytical minds here. You see, I kinda need a finished synopsis today so I threw one together last night and would appreciate your best criticism on it. If you ever feel at any point in the synopsis that it has dipped in interest, that it sounds jerky, or that there could be better wording, please let me…[Read more]

Okay peoples I’m STUCK!!!! I need a title for a story, but I don’t want to give too much away. So basically it’s based on Jane Austen’s novels and Charles is lord of Birchwood, a magnificent estate. His *cough* comes and well, kicks him out, so to speak.
My sister suggested the title “The Annoying Guest” which would work as a chapter title, but…[Read more] -

What I do for short story inspiration is wait until I’m out in public and pick a person to watch. WATCH HER SLASH HIM HARD! AS LONG AS YOU CAN! write down everything about them, characteristics, how they walk/talk/eat/breathe facial quirks, funky styles, personality. Then, go home, and start with them saying one of your favorite one liners, and…[Read more]

“This is a story about two children. Actually, it’s story about two children and a mischievous and slightly sulky door, but I mustn’t get ahead, must I?
At birth these two children were given the names Nicholas Wilbur Rothelburg and Scarlett Jaylie Rothelburg. They also happened to have been given these names at almost the exact same time, on the…[Read more] -

@hope in all honesty, I haven’t written a ton of short stories. I’m in the middle of one now that’s historical fiction, but what I’m usually used to is writing scenes from larger, more complete fantasy worlds. So, I guess the answer is that I love fantasy and science fiction because it’s so flexible.
@emma-flournoy I think my favorite animal out…[Read more] -

@hope You’re welcome. *insert weird grin that borders on madness* I’m sure you can visualize one.
@emma-flournoy @daeus @kate-flournoy hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha back at yah. I literally came up with that on the fly, but it’s my best of that type… cause I’ve never written a poem about a specific person before.

You could just call it “Lord of Birchwood.” I don’t know. Just a suggestion. Or you could call it *Cough*, since that seems to be a theme in your story. 😉
What is the genre?
@bluejay Uh oh… even the KP doctor has a cough. D’you think it’s from all that smoke from my melting the chairs yesterday? 😛
Lords of the Will
Birchwood Problems
The Lord of Birchwood
???
*hands you cough medicine* Sorry, that’s all I could come up with for now.
@dragon-snapper Yes, that smoke was terrible. So please don’t do that again. Ooo cough medicine, thank you. You know, if you were nice tempered, I could take you on as a nurse. 😉
@his-instrument Hehe. The genre…hard question since I’m not great with genres, but just think Pride and Prejudice. 🙂
How about “The Will of Birchwood”?
Or does that sound too much like a name???? :S
@bluejay
The title “The Birchwood Will” might work, if you think that “The Will of Birchwood” doesn’t work. 🙂

Hmm…a second on Lord of Birchwood.
hmm, I’m not sure, but here are some questions that might help you choose.
What lesson does the character learn?
What’s one word that could sum up the story’s conflict?
Is there anything extremely unusual about your characters or the situations they find themselves in?
What are common words used in titles for the book’s genre? (romance, I assume.…[Read more]
