@Daeus I will attempt to solve the paradox.
If non-existence does not exist, then it does
If non-existence does exist, then it does notNon-existence is an idea. It doesn’t exist in the first place, rather it is the lack of existence of some other idea or item. So if the lack of something’s existence doesn’t exist, then that thing does indeed…[Read more]

@c-c-lane Welcome! *bows officially*
I love writing medieval fantasy too! And Tolkien. Reading Tolkien that is, not writing it. 😉

@Kate-flournoy I keep thinking about something gardeny too…though I was more thinking something symbolic. Like roses? 😉 Perhaps using the garden/sanctuary (our equivalent of a church) for their own purposes?)
@c-c-lane Hmm, that’s a good idea about the kids having been in the Prince’s castle. I’m not sure if they’ve actually been there, but I…[Read more]

I’m hoping you guys might be able to help me with a problem I’m trying to brainstorm for an allegory I’m working on. Background: There is a village in the mountains. There has been a war between the Prince and the rebels. The Prince died for His people, came back to life, and is now offering pardon to anyone who will accept His sacrifice. In this…[Read more]

@Jadamae I see what you’re saying. It’s been a bit…I couldn’t remember when he discovered it the very first time.

@anna-brie What cabin are you in? Or do you need me to give you my username? I’ve only done this once, so I can’t remember how it all works.

@Jadamae I’ve read those books. They’re not my favorite books, but I didn’t think they were too bad.
I didn’t mind him changing shape because it is in a different dimension, so different rules likely apply. And it’s not as if he does it with ease every time. He does have to fight at times, and sometimes the disguise slips because he’s not strong…[Read more]

If anyone is interested, you can sign up here: https://campnanowrimo.org/sign_in
And here’s the official ‘about’ information: http://campnanowrimo.org/about
If there are people here who are interested, I could set up a Kingdom Pen cabin. 😉

@Daeus It’s kind of like NaNo month (where you write a novel in one month…or at least 40,000 words) but there are two camps in the summer. One in May (I think) and one in July. You can set your own word goal, from 5000 words and for the month. Then you can join a ‘cabin’ with ten(?) other writers and you post your word counts each day and there…[Read more]

Anyone doing Camp NaNo in July? I decided I was going to, so I’m wondering anyone else is and, if you are, if you have a cabin already or not (I need to find one to join).

@timothy-young Ooo, I really like Freedom’s Cause, The Cat of Bubastes, and The Lion of St. Mark. I think one of my favorites is For the Temple.
Thanks. I’m glad you liked the article. 🙂 I don’t really have an option on authors of Greek and Roman warfare or history. I’ve just been slowly going though the small selection our library has and r…[Read more]

@Daeus Personal opinion, I suppose. I just don’t care for his voice and how he sings it. I’ve heard other versions, like one by Josh Groban, which carry the emotion of the song but which I think sounds better.

@Kate-flournoy, @Daeus, I love Les Mis music! My favorite song is probably Empty Chairs and Empty Tables (but sung by someone else besides the actor 😉 )
Back on topic; book voting: Alice Through the Looking Glass. Or Ender’s Game.

Hope Ann replied to the topic More than one question about writing an allegorical series in the forum General Writing Discussions 8 years, 5 months ago
@his-instrument Yes! I’ve done that. Well, the writing and rewriting and rewriting. I’ve one book I’m working on that I wrote four years ago. Then I doubled the length, then I rewrote quite a bit of it. And now I’m reworking it again… And I’m not even going to mention another book I wrote last year which I’ve revised a few times and have now…[Read more]

Hope Ann replied to the topic Novel Idea, Ghosts, and Time Restrictions in the forum Novel Idea Critiques 8 years, 5 months ago
@adry_grace The reason I asked about OUAT was that, in the last season they go into the underworld and end up helping some of the people down there ‘move on’ by completing their ‘unfinished business’. But I suppose that’s just a general aspect of ghosts. 🙂
What if the character thinks his ‘power’ is being invisible? At least to most people. I…[Read more]

Oooo, cool ideas! *rubs hands*
I would think even ghosts would be restricted to time, though it might seem to pass differently for them. Can they move fast? If so, maybe time would seem to pass very slow and they can get a lot of things done in a few minutes and then are bored. Or maybe they zone out if nothing is happening so it…[Read more]

@timothy-young That is fascinating! I know very little about any part of Africa and love hearing about new places. And perhaps…perhaps our government isn’t quite as bad as it could be… 😉

Welcome, @timothy-young! I love the Scarlet Pimpernel! I think I’ve read all the books, or at least all the books I could get my hands on. And I like military history…well, Roman and Greek history, which is mainly battles…
And…I think most of the interesting questions have already been asked. 🙁
Also, blogs are fun! Make sure you tell us…[Read more]
