Hey, thanks to those of you who were praying for me. We had a smooth trip to Maryland and got to visit a lot with family, which was fun. 🙂

@salome01w4g Actually, if you’re talking about Treachery Against The House Of Fairwin, this one is less graphic.

@salome01w4g No, they’re about the same as far as violence goes.

@salome01w4g Good question. I’ll answer it for the whole book. I think the main potential issue would be violence. I never try to be gory, but I always include some details of violence. In chapter 2, there is a character who might seem a bit creepy and who kills a couple people (though without much description). In chapter 4, two innocent people…[Read more]

Hi KeePers,
The day has finally come for me to accept early reviewers for my time travel novel, Fools In The Darkness!
For those of you unfamiliar with my story, I have a beta-synopsis below. The book is on the shorter side of average with 31 chapters. I still have some line editing that needs to be done, but the story itself is done editing and…[Read more]

Wow. Government reflects the people’s worldview. Great point! Never thought about it like that before.
Also, @aratrea, @kate-flournoy, @daeus
Who do you think first created the “political intrigue fantasy” subgenre (new genre title officially coined)?

I HAVE ARRIVED.I not only adore political intrigue in fantasy, I believe it can be absolutely essential for developing your world and characters.
Disclaimer before I explain that— a fair chunk of my characters are inherently political by very…[Read more] -

Not necessarily an info dump where the author tells you everything about the royal line, etc. I’m more referring to where there are those competing for the throne (for an example).

@warrioroftherealm oh my heavens. This question. Just— I have a rant, okay? And I don’t have time to rant it right now.
But just you wait.

@warrioroftherealm YES!!! Definitely. It must have intrigue. I looove political intrigue.
Granted, that opinion is probably heavily tainted by the fact that I’m an ENFJ, but ENFJs are always right, so I declare this debate over

@joy Reading more widely should help you with writing stories with different themes.
As for the lessons your characters learn and the obstacles in their way, both of those lists seems good to me. I do, however, think that adding more obstacles could help make your story different. For instance, could there be a competitive suitor? Or maybe the…[Read more]

Well, it depends. You should know that men don’t have a particularly large advantage over women in a one on one combat. The disparity mainly exists in battles where men can keep fighting way way longer.
The trick is, I assume this angel is quite competent with a sword. The best idea that comes to my mind is that she could try…[Read more]
