Kate Flournoy replied to the topic Cover Art help? in the forum Publishing & Platform 8 years, 6 months ago
@aislinn-mollisong okay. *cracks knuckles*
First of all, unless you have Photoshop (which is what I use) I probably won’t be able to give you many technical pointers. But I can give you basic design tips that will help you with the layout/composition of the cover itself.
You will need a program of some sort, and if you don’t already have one, I…[Read more] -

@aislinn-mollisong If you want to design your own cover, I think Kate’s the only one who’s done that. You can also get pretty quality covers pretty cheap at fiverr. Ask Hope about that. I know she’s done it. And then there are also pro designers, some of which can be very expensive and some of which are pretty reasonable.

@aislinn-mollisong Harold and Arianwen are two of the characters in my WIP… and yes, you can read it, when it’s ready. 😉 Tell you guys what— I’ll just start a topic here when it is and tag those of you I can remember, and the rest of you can jump on and remind me, ‘kay?
@Emily @Shannon@Daeus *cringes* sorry…

@Emily I’m unnecessarily hard on myself and use photoshop. 😛
@Shannon thank you! You hadn’t mentioned that, but… I can put you on the list, if you like. 🙂 And no, I love that movie. One of the most quotable movies of all time. 😛
@Mariposa mmm… more like a lonely villain. 😉 Thank you though. 😀@Daeus it’s… um… for the eleventh book.

@kate-flournoy Why?!?! You’re such a horrible person.
Actually, that sounds like it could be really good. Still evil, but good. 🙂 And that picture of the guy in the bottom right corner is perfect. I want to read about him now. 😀

Okay guys I made another one. You people are positively a bad influence.

Yes, it’s another antagonist. I won’t say villain because he isn’t quite, but he comes pretty close. His name is Nisien and he’s basically immortal.
@Dragon-Snapper @Emily @Shannon @Ingridrd @GracieGirl
@Daeus, this is Harold and Arianwen’s son. *hides under the table*

@dragon-snapper Well, I always recommend knowing your end from the beginning. But, of course, we have to deal with the situation as it is.
I think this is the simplest way to approach the issue. What lessons do your characters learn in the first two books and what would it look like if that lesson had to be learned on a national scale? Once…[Read more]

Over a week. Yikes.Ooooh, great choice!! Blue is my favorite color too! Although, I prefer a sort of very strong teal. XD
As for a job….To date, I’ve never really had one tbh. XD But I’m about to start tutoring my lil sis in piano in a month. And my parents will pay me to give…[Read more] -

It also has a nice distraction-free writing mode which can be helpful at times.

Yeah, I think I’m in the minority with the no-job thing. XD Part of it is probably how often my family spontaneously takes off on camping trips.
And you play violin?! Gah! I would so love to be able to do that, but I haven’t the patience. It’s probably my favorite instrument to listen to.
Ooh, what do I like to do other than writing…hmmm,…[Read more]
