@WarrioroftheRealm is there one particular thing that played any defining role in the villain’s life at all? Signets are chosen for their personal significance. It should be something relevant to the character. What one thing really means a lot to him? Perhaps it has some hidden symbolism.

@emma-flournoy Yes! It’s time to build to barricade! *throws a bunch of tables and chairs on top of each other* *climbs on top of them* *waves French flag and yells/sings one day more*
In all seriousness though I don’t know if you were there for that particular conversation a while ago when I said I wanted to play Madam Thenairdeir, but the cast…[Read more]

Hey guys, I need some ideas for a signet ring. I can’t use a dragon’s eye or spikes of ice, since those are insignias for later villains in my books. Any useful ideas? This is for the villain who I was talking about in the Villain Reveal topic.

Alright @brandon-miller, I’ll continue in your little revolution or whatever this is, as long as we get to sing “Do You Hear the People Sing?” at the top of our lungs.

@warrioroftherealm Maybe the villain is out with his troops for some reason (supervising some important project possibly) and the MCs happen to see him. Maybe they see him turn invisible and happen to know some legend about a guy who could do that which lets them know who he is.

@gretald Awesome! I loved seeing the reconstruction of what it might have looked like.
@sleepwalkingmk Write about a person who pretends to be blind for one day because… I’ll let you decide why.
Or write from the perspective of a writer’s computer on the day she kills a character.

@sleepwalkingmk
Hmm…write about someone who works at an ice cream factory and finds out about the company’s plot to bribe the world leaders with ice cream and take over the world.Okay, here’s a more serious one.
Write about a college professor’s perception of an annoying student on the first day of classes.Hope those will help you. 🙂

@hannah-krynicki
That’s an awesome prompt! The Lost Colony is so fascinating. I actually went to the “site” where the Roanoke Colony was supposed to be, and it turned out they really had almost NO evidence that the colony was there. So that was pretty disappointing, but at least it was somewhat interesting. 😉 -

You protest, and thus the first part of our plan is a success. Thanks for the help!
Oh, great. You’re welcome. *rolls eyes* 😉 😛

Haha! And this is why you don’t feed orcs chili. Does anybody have a napkin? :p
All jokes aside, the orcs speak a different language (very rarely do they speak the common tongue). I do like the message interception idea though! It could work!

My main characters need to know the villain because—at this point—they really have no idea who destroyed the castle. Maybe the King guides them in the right direction, so they know where this villain is, but they don’t know who he is. This villain is ancient, and is the second in command of the evil presence in the world (Satan). He is ver…[Read more]

First of all, do the good guys just need to see the villain to know what he looks like, or do they need to interact with him through something like conversation or combat? Do they need to know that he is the villain, could they have no idea who he is, or could they be deceived into thinking he is someone he isn’t?

Kate Flournoy replied to the topic Villain Reveal in the forum Fantasy 9 years, 11 months ago
@WarrioroftheRealm hm… let me see. My first idea was, is there any way the villain could have a motive for meeting them without revealing who he is? Maybe he could go and seek them out for that reason (is he curious? Afraid? Daring? Arrogant?) and meet them as a simple traveler, and things escalate from there.
Or maybe he needs to ship something…[Read more] -

@aella This is becoming the busiest point of my year, so I haven’t been able to get to NaNo yet, but I should have a lot more time starting at the twentieth, so I’ll just do what I can now and pick back up then and try to get 25,000 words.

Alright guys—ready for another question?? 🙂
My main villain has never seen the main character before, and lives in an old abandoned fortress deep in the mountains. My main characters have been on this guy’s trail for some time (unknowingly), because he destroyed a place special to the main characters with dragons. The only evil they have come i…[Read more] -
