Hi friends,
I’m submitting a guest post called Theme Made Simple to a writing blog here in a couple days. I’d like to get a few people to look over it before I submit it, so if you’re interested in theme, have at it. It’s only 900 words, but there’s a ton backed in…[Read more]

@warrioroftherealm Try Rora for historical fiction. It’s a tale of a Waldensian resistance fighter and it has some good political intrigue in it.

@dekreel I love the Canterbury Tales. I studied a number of the tales in college and have taught different stories from it in my English classes. I do need to second @sleepwalkingmk, though, and say that you need to be careful about which you read since some are pretty raunchy. I’d be happy to give you recommendations on which to read or which to…[Read more]

@sam-kowal That synopsis is great. 😀  Where can I read this book? 😛
I’ve taken to just sharing my story premise.
“Oh, my book? It’s about these guys who are trying to steal this thing from the dark lord before he figures out it has the power to release him from his captivity.”
Never mind that description lacks any life whatsoever. They d…[Read more]

@everyone Wow, what fun! This is a great idea.
I don’t have a lot of funny stories, but…all those times that my mom shuts my laptop down for me and I have a mini heart-attack, hoping that all the tabs about unique baby boy names, synonyms for the word ‘pungent’ and villain pictures on Pinterest are not still open…
Oh and also when I’m w…[Read more]

@epicaddie2Â One more thing…this is a story that has inspired me in the darkest times of my life.
One night a man had a dream. He dreamt he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints on the sand — one belonging to him and the other to the Lord. When…[Read more]

@epicaddie2 I wish I could hug you right now! I totally know what you’re going through…I’ve been there myself and it’s so easy to lose sight of the fact that God is there with us no matter what. And if it’s any encouragement, you have friends here. Hang in there and keep plowing through. God has something absolutely beautiful plan…[Read more]

@dragon-snapper There are lots of good takes on this here. I agree with them. I’ll just post two other ideas.
1. Take a break, but not from your book. Take a break just to dream about your book. Imagine yourself in scenes. Dream about backstory you’ve never thought of. Just dream.
2. I think writing isn’t always so much about our books as it is…[Read more]

@epicaddie2 That is totally relatable.
I’ll be remembering to pray for you, because this is very similar to what I face, only it’s not a loneliness issue but still a faith issue.
If I could say two things to encourage you, first of all, “In everything give thanks.” Boy, this helps. I think we feel depressed because we feel weak. In thankfulness,…[Read more]

Great job on this! As a missionary kid, this hits very close to home. Ouch, but I needed it 😛 So thank you. I saw myself in Caitlyn, and definitely understand her situation, missing friends and trying not to make new ones just to get hurt all over again. And the emotions coming even when she could get Megan’s email address e…[Read more]

Oooo, Chaucer is an interesting subject though. Because people only read some of the stories in the Canterbury Tales for a reason (please *no one* read it without a guide/syllabus/some parts sectioned out. Just please be very careful when reading the book.)
Anyways, I’ve read the Knight’s tale, the Wife of Bath’s tale, the Clerk’s tale, and the…[Read more]
