@filewriterbase13x You can use me if you wish (I’ve been mentioned before as a droid), but by all means you don’t have to.
I’m sure your story will be great!

@celticcailin Hi! I love music, but I don’t write lyrics (I play cajon.)
I think @dekreel , @sam-kowal , and @alia write songs, though. (Tell me if I’m wrong, guys!)
Good luck on your music!

valtmy replied to the topic Character Development Methods in the forum Characters 8 years, 5 months ago
My rule of thumb is that main characters should be both bright and deep. “Bright” as in they have some qualities that you (and hopefully your readers) find interesting (note: this is not the same as likable or attractive). “Deep” means that these traits come from a source (the characters’ past or background) that should at least be…[Read more]

@seekjustice WOAH. I’m so scared. I’m so scared. My word, reading Manly with Chessy was so heartbreaking :'( And Zachary and Justice being cousins gives this a different dynamic. I’m so scared. AHHHHHHHH

Ben Powell replied to the topic Outlining – Love It or Hate It? in the forum General Writing Discussions 8 years, 5 months ago
@waterlily Nope. I don’t outline before I start. The most I ever do is write a couple of ideas for the next two or three scenes and have a general idea of how the story is probably going to end.
Sometimes it doesn’t turn out the best, but, hey, that’s what editing is for. 🙂

valtmy replied to the topic How should I continue this? in the forum Novel Idea Critiques 8 years, 5 months ago
Yep that was the plan. That’s why I introduced plot points such as the other members of the imperial family, the history of the empire, the assassin etc. because they will be relevant to the ‘adventure’ part of things.
But not everything was linking up and making sense. That’s why I have been stuck on this story for a long time and I…[Read more]

Glad you liked it!
My original idea was a sort of Man vs God thing. It draws upon the belief that our lives are ruled by “Fate” that was prevalent in ancient China.
Basically the setting is a story world where “Fate” appears to cause lots of silly love stories to happen and the “Rules” are basically just all the…[Read more]

Hmm… yes maybe that will work. I was planning on having a more sweeping epic but maybe a tighter story might suit the premise better. Thanks!
Sure no problem.

@skye That’s a good list of authors. 🙂
😀 Actually, yes, BTD is where my username originally came from. I started using it years ago and it’s just kinda stuck. I’m assuming you’ve played the game, because you’re the first one to ask that.

@skye Welcome to KP!
It’s cool that you write medieval fantasy. I don’t see too much of that. 🙂
Any favorite authors?

@seekjustice I finished it. AHHH I just LOVE how you tied Les Mis and AToTC together! That is So. Cool! But all the sadness. *cries* So soon. It’s too much o_o Until there’s more, of course!
Also *shakes finger* Poor @rochellaine *hands you some tissues*

I have a problem.
I tend to start off writing well but I have trouble deciding how to continue my stories. This causes me to get stuck and saps away my motivation to write. For my WIP, I have been trying to see if outlining will help but outlining is hard when I’m not sure how I want my story to go.
So just to try something new I’m putting one…[Read more]
