@dekreel WHOA — it’s awesome. 😀 😀
Just wondering, how long do you think this will turn out to be?

@inkling-for-christ Great job with the setting! It’s already been said, but your descriptions are pretty good, too.
What I would say that already hasn’t been said is to put some continuity into your chapters, and try to make the story into a fluent whole. You have two chapter fives and two chapter sevens — which relates to what I just said in…[Read more]

@dekreel I haven’t really been on here much BUT FIRST THANK YOU FOR DOING ALL OF THIS!! 🙂
And my writing weakness is mostly perfectionism. (The deadline is looming… but I just have to rewrite this little sentence eight more times before it’s perfect…) I tend to dislike revision because I want my draft to be already so well written the first time.

@dragongeek You may have come across this website already, but it has like a million name generators, which should help with naming your series:Â http://www.fantasynamegenerators.com/

@supermonkey42 Personally, if I were reading that story, it would be less confusing if the third person part was obviously narrated by your main character. If the main character also adds his/her own thoughts during their narration of the story, it help, too (“Bob lunged forward to get the piece of cake, which I think was the stupidest thing he…[Read more]

@waterlily I would like to point out that if 3rd person doesn’t go too easily for you (as you said 1st person is easier and more natural) then using 3rd person may make the writing process more stressful than it should be.
If you’re telling the story from a single protagonist’s view, with no other POV’s, I know first person tends to work well for…[Read more]

@inkling-for-christ Thanks for the advice! I should probably check out that book. I’m guessing the Inklings is the inspiration for your username right? — really cool.
@sam-kowal Thanks for sharing! Could you clarify, though, what you mean about fantasy being a good genre for sharing the truth?
Personally I feel that as fantasy is usually…[Read more]

@waterlily Yes it does make sense — thanks 🙂 I get this feeling that I’ve seen that happen in a story… somewhere… but it slips my head at the moment.
@aratrea Mmm… yeah, I can see how that works. Thanks a bunch for the advice (and for the articles)!

Hi everybody! (First post in a new forum category. Feel like a pioneer :D)
So I’ve heard people talk on this site about writing that points to the truth of the gospel. What are some creative ways we could do this in our fiction writing, even if we don’t say/mention the gospel outright?
One thing I can think about at the moment is the idea of…[Read more]

@princessfoo Book #9 — nice! It’s pretty hard to say which ones I enjoy the most. Personally I would say Book #10, and Book #1 of Brotherband Chronicles is just hilarious, although I’m not sure I can call it my favorite compared to all the others. Also I find it surprising that you think there should be a follow-up to Book 12. Apart from ___, I…[Read more]

@dekreel How about for henchmen, you also add discouragement/lack of motivation? And rejection. This looks like it’s going to be so fun! Can’t wait for you to write this 🙂
Also, when I think of writer’s block I imagine a wall that you can’t just push past, and it makes you so sad and hopeless about yourself that you just want to flop on a bed…[Read more]

@epicaddie2 @princessfoo RANGER’S APPRENTICE FANS!!! Haha this is the first time I’ve found any on this site. A lot of people talk about LotR and other series, but not a lot about Ranger’s Apprentice.
