Current twist options available are:
1. The wronged person could take vengeance on the wrong people
2. Or he could accidentally take vengeance on someone he loves … and then find out (Already claimed. Refer to my novel to come out in I have no idea when.)
3. Or his vengeance plots could backfire and nearly (or actually) destroy him
4. Or he…[Read more] -

Wow, no, really? I mean, seriously? You really think so? I mean… wow, that’s so coincidental! I mean, I hadn’t even really considered that… the thought never even crossed my mind… 😛 😛 😛
Ahem… I’ll tell you something. His initials are D-E-N-H-O-L-M.

Okay, all three of us must have been posting at the same time!
Yes, I am going to read Les Mis. Thanks, Hope. I’ll try and forget that. 😛

I am almost halfway through it— with Franz d’Epinay and Albert de Morcerf at the Carnival of Rome, just after Albert got caught by Luigi Vampa and Franz is taking the Count with him to effect Albert’s release. And yes, I’m afraid I’m hooked for life. Don’t you dare ask me who my favorite character is— there is, and only will ever be, one…[Read more]

It’s a pity your character is only hypothetical. He might do well in a story.

If you’re having problems with not getting the rough draft down because you’re too busy editing, you could come up with some sort of scheduled…like making sure you write 500 fresh words a day or something like that even if the rest of the time you spend editing.

Vengeance doesn’t always need to involve killing. Sometimes the Bad Guy will let the Good Guy live to they will suffer the same loss the Bad Guy suffered…at least I think I’ve read or seen a story like that. That could actually be an interesting storyline for a good guy; he forgives the bad guy and lets him live, but in reality the bad guy is so…[Read more]

Thanks Reagan. That’s kind of the way I was leaning, but I wanted to make sure. And you’re right— it would make it clearer what he’s going through if he goes around snapping at people and glaring and being impatient and all that. It fits right in with my… um… hypothetical situation, especially since this character doesn’t usually get angry…[Read more]

By the way, where are you in the book?

True, most likely to be edgy. Good starting point for character development.

Thanks for the tips, Daeus. I have an… ahem… hypothetical case to present. Just a question, actually. Say a young man (sixteen, almost seventeen) was thrown into command of a tired, demoralized, losing army, while his father (who had been the commander) and his uncle (with whom he is very close) and his sweetheart (enough said) are captives of the…

Whahahahaha!!!! You are doomed to be a Cristo fan. No one can escape!
Alright I’m back to normal now.
I’ll answer your last questions first. The hero (let us say protagonist rather) need not kill, but something drastic must happen if he goes through with his vengeance, for horrors reap horrors.
As for not promoting vengeance while using it,…[Read more]

What type of editing are you doing? Is it grammatical editing or literary editing? If it is grammatical editing, you may just being obstructing your creative juices, but there can be merit to doing literary editing as you go. By literary editing I mean things like giving your sentences a better flow, making the scenery more vivid, or polishing off…[Read more]

Hm… I don’t like French words. 😛 Maybe because it also took ME forever to realize THAT word was the same as the one I heard people say as ‘ron day voo’. The pronunciation is crazy.
Another good one is Diaphanous.

Okay, so I’m reading and absolutely loving ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ right now, and even those of you who haven’t read the book probably know the main theme is vengeance. (I haven’t finished it yet, so no spoilers please!) 😛
Vengeance is a very basic human passion, and all of us struggle with it on some level. It can be as simple as wanting to…[Read more]
