@rochellaine  I am mostly brainstorming for my WIP (which I just finished the first draft of)…just trying to figure some plot holes out and such.  🙂

@rochellaine  Hello, hello. 😉

I am doing some characterization and world-building…

@seekjustice @rochellaine @dekreel @dragon-snapper

@bella-d I could answer this, but I’m most interested in what @kate-flournoy would say since I know she’s faced something similar and overcame it.

@rochellaine  Ooooh!  My favorites are Unter, Byrk, and Anret.  🙂

@kaya-young Nice list! Austen is one of my all-time favorites.

@alia  Hmmm…I always have trouble drawing children, but I might try.  Anyone else?

@dekreel @gabbyj @clairec @itisastarrynight

@aviantrail Welcome. 😀

If you’re a Star Wars fan, would you happen to also be a Kylo Ren fan?

No death threats if you’re not, but I’m just saying. I think he’s pretty cool. 😛 😉

@kaya-young Hi! Welcome to the bestistest place on the internet.

A homeschool grad here. What type of books does Jeff Bridges write?

@aviantrail  *waves enthusiastically*  Welcome!  I know this is a boring question, but where do you go to school?

@kaya-young  Hello!  I am also 15, homeschooled, and have three younger siblings (also an older sister)!  Do you have a favorite genre to write?

Welcome to the forum @kaya-young! I was homeschooled myself from Kindergarten through high school. Afraid I’m not familiar with Jeff Bridges. :/ What other authors do you enjoy?

Hey @aviantrail–welcome to the site! Love that Wodehouse quote in your signature! Are those short stories fan-fictions for Homer’s Odyssey, or something different?

@alia Oooh. This is a really cool question.

There are a lot of approaches you could take with this. Most importantly, I think you need to think outside the box. Maybe that means reading more widely within the fantasy genre for inspiration. It definitely means asking yourself what if questions.

One suggestion is to make God an antagonist for a…[Read more]

Personally, that has always been a favorite scene of mine, when an arrow is shot through a room with a message…especially if it is to the villain. For one, that shows the arrow was chosen to relay a message, instead of killing him/her in cold blood even though the opportunity was there.

I’m not sure if it’s exactly cliche, but it is used very…[Read more]

@jenwriter17 I haven’t really read modern dystopia, but I do get the impression that it has lost something it used to have. Namely, all the early dystopias were prophesies. The authors looked at the culture around them and, knowing what they did of mankind, civilization, and technology, they constructed a model of the future that they thought was…[Read more]

@jenwriter17 Ha. I actually have a KP Cinema video about cliches in dystopian novels coming out sometime this month. xD So a lot of my “advice” would be in there. I wouldn’t say oppressive governments are cliched because they’re required for that genre, but I would recommend studying classic dystopias like Animal Farm, Fahrenheit 451, Brave New…[Read more]
