@gracie-girl can tell you a lot about J/P. It’s really cool stuff.

@ingridrd Devan sounds perfect for this character. Only the spelling makes me think a little of the word “divan.” Which is totally beside the point and I’m probably the only one who thinks that way, but I thought I’d let you know anyway.
Quick question: Do you hear “Devan” pronounced the same way as “Devin”? Or do you pronounce the “a”? I think…[Read more]

You know you’re a writer when your family asks you why you’re making faces at your computer, and you have to explain that you’re testing body language.
You know you’re a writer when you’re at a funeral, and while you’re waiting in line to speak to the family, you make use of your time by trying to observe how people respond to grief. (Wow, that…[Read more]

Hello
I have just finished my first (real) film script, planning to film this winter!! So, can ya’ll do me a favor?? I need a few “outsiders” to proof my script. You can read it here . I hope. :/ Anyways, there is on unfinished part (it is marked, and to be honest, I totally forgot about that, abut I’m getting to it!) Please comment here with…[Read more]

Daeus replied to the topic Chapters in a First Draft in the forum General Writing Discussions 8 years, 3 months ago
@naomijackson I don’t think it’s best to just insert chapter breaks wherever there is a cliffhanger. You want chapters to be fairly similar in length with just a handfull of short and long ones thrown in there. I believe writing chapter breaks in the first draft helps me craft nice chapter breaks and more cliffhangers because I’m planning for the…[Read more]

@rochellaine I also like Devan a lot. Thanks for the input. (Oh, and Larik is a great name, by the way, @daughteroftheking, but I don’t feel like it suits my character. 😉 )

@rochellaine I’ve never thought about this before. I’ve always just had the chapter breaks right from the start. I assumed that’s how everyone did it. I suppose it’s not a big deal, but it does work well for me how I do it. It helps me plan chapter breaks well and gives me an added sense of completion when I finish a chapter.

@rochellaine That’s a very good point. *smacks face*
He is fifteen years old. He is mischievous, bold, and reckless, often does things without thinking. He can fight his own battles, but tries to do too much on his own (he’s slightly arrogant).
Appearance: windswept brown hair, dull green eyes, average height.

Okay, so this isn’t exactly on topic, but I’m trying to name a guy character and need some ideas. What I have so far: Arian, Bryson, Corban, Devan, Crew
I’m having such a hard time choosing. So, please either vote on which of the above names you like best or use your wonderfully creative mi…[Read more]

Daeus replied to the topic Kicking Off the Plot in the forum General Writing Discussions 8 years, 3 months ago
@mnvalentine It depends a bit on what you consider “action”. If action is battles and desperate plots, no novel actually needs those and you can bring them in at any point in your story. If action to you means confrontation, which I think is a good synonym, perhaps you do need the action to come in earlier, though it depends on how long your book…[Read more]

Daeus replied to the topic Has Anyone Published A Kindle Book in the forum Publishing & Platform 8 years, 3 months ago
@photobloggergal Okay, I can’t help with Word specifically, but I’m pretty sure it’s not a hard process. I’m sure Youtube has some good tutorials.
All you really need to publish is an account on kdp.amazon.com. Then, upload the file of your story and a cover, enter a description for your story, etc. It’s a very simple process.
