God esteems all wickedness and evil alike. There is no difference in His eyes between a ‘little’ wickedness and a great one.
Nitpicky tired person say no. There is an unforgivable sin, and it is said that though all sins are equally worthy of hell, it is better to, say, hate your brother in your heart, than to actually go and kill him. Jus’ say…[Read more]

Rats.
It really sucks to not notice when stuff happens, and then everything is out of date when you arrive.
Not cool.

Hey, but I’m the lucky one!
I’ve read LotR at least ten times, and every time I have read something new.
Pretty cool, am I right?

@emma Wait, you like Ray Bradbury too? I’ve read Fahrenheit 451. That’s such a brilliant and amazing book. (Minus Ray’s rather careless usage of rather bad language.)
Pretty hard to get a feel for his style I suppose…I was highly confused as to what was happening for a good portion of the beginning…but once I got that settled…it was…[Read more]

I side with Kate on the Dickens. And I’ll see her Dickens, and raise her a Lewis. (I fold on Tolkien.)
I love Dickens and Lewis’s description, because (guess what!) they do it in a very…entertaining way. (In fact, for most of my future work, I’m going to be imitating them…).
It’s like…it’s like the author is sitting down next to you on a…[Read more]

That is a good and right rule, and like, the only rule I really follow in writing. (Aside from basic stuff that’s just the norm for reader engagement.)

and a citizen’s duty to protect the nation’s freedoms for the next generation fit
OK, the half of the sentence before this I saw as scripturally backed up.
This sounds like ‘Murica, not Bible.
Bad ‘Murica. Shame.
If you start thinking that way, you’re placing the idea of moral absolute on the individual. Because I’m so cool, I’m actually goi…[Read more]

I’ll answer Daeus first, because I scoff at order. Justa little rebel.
All those are most important things. I would be the last to think that they shouldn’t be brought about. The reader most assuredly needs to know them. But when?
I dunno if you guys, like me, tend to skim posts (from time to time *cough*), but if you did (I really do try to…[Read more]

Legitimate government is instituted by God.
Render to Ceaser what is Ceasers.
Render to God what is Gods.
We obey the civil authorities.
We do not obey them if they command us to sin.
If they aren’t commanding us to sin, we obey.
I’m tired, happy fragments.

Interesting point to consider, brought about by someone’s mentioning something about having their own very clear image of what something is like:
In my experience, description is actually pretty killer to setting. A sad but true thing, at least, from what I’ve gathered listening to people, and in my own reading experience.
For the writer (even…[Read more]

It was a compliment, Ezra. You should be happy. People appreciate wit.
I know it’s a compliment.
The discussion was still awkward.
And Ezra, don’t be hurt!! I wanna be your friend! Moose antlers and all.
*Sniffle* I’m touched.

They double as that, yes. I’m quite versatile.
And you, O Hannah, mature and wise as you are, how many years have you graced the earth?-
I am mature and wise because I have graced the earth two years longer than you.

Ray Bradbury is pretty fantastic.
How do you like his open endings? I know a lot of people didn’t like how F451 came to a climax and close so suddenly, and was so character driven, but those are some of the things that I liked about it, honestly.
Really? Yeah, his style is very….stylized xD I got muddled more towards middle/end on the first…[Read more]
