Site5 and Hostgator are hosting sites. Those are the places you buy your domain name. Once you have a domain name, you can start your WordPress site.

It can be a bit of trouble sometimes, but if you use the forum, you’ll find most of your problems have an easy fix. Like I said too, whatever you go through, there’s probably a 75% chance I faced it too, so just let me know if you have any problems. Personally, I really like WordPress.

Unfortunately, I really don’t know much about hosting sites. I thought Site5 was by the year, but maybe it is not. I’m pretty confident I’m only paying $12 a year though, so I assume it is only $1 a month.

The difference as I understand it is that WordPress.com has a lot of limitations to what you can do with it, whereas the options with WordPress.org are much larger. I believe @dbhgodreigns mentioned he wasn’t able to connect an email program (like mail chimp) to his wordpress.com site.
