@itisastarrynight *looks in awe of raspberry sunshine*
@inklingforchrist Good question. I honestly don’t know. Every time I start a novel, it’s a big fear of mine that it’s not going to be very long at all. But even if your novels are short, it’s okay. My only suggestion for making books longer is adding in more conflict between characters and…[Read more]

@winter-rose Yep. I’m still lovin’ that GIF. XD
@ethryndal Perfect GIF. 😛 I’m surprised though, you didn’t use Galadriel. 😛 😉
@jenwriter17 The chair melting thing is basically what I do when I’m not happy with something. It’s my forum ‘signature’. 😉

I concur with everything that @ethryndal said about bows and arrows. Bows are very difficult to pull back, and longbows are much harder to pull back than a recurve bow (hence the longer range). Many movies and shows have a character holding a bow at full-draw for several seconds up to a few minutes at a time. This is…[Read more]

Alright, peoples, listen up. I have questions.
One of the reasons I’ve enjoyed writing in the sci-fi genre is that you don’t have to know much about fighting styles or weapons. It’s sci-fi, and no one expects you to be realistic the entire time, so you can just…make stuff up. Which I do. A lot.
But, in the days since my old sci-fi WIP k…[Read more]

Daeus replied to the topic What to do with a blog/website ? in the forum Publishing & Platform 7 years, 3 months ago
@itisastarrynight Blogs, like social media, serve two potential purposes. 1, To promote yourself/get people on your email list. 2, To interact with readers. Actually, they also serve a third purpose of helping you get used to writing regularly.
If you really want your blog to be a major way you promote yourself, you need to blog about something…[Read more]

YES! The sequel to Sector One is finally done. The name is SECTOR ONE: THE DRAGON MAST. And it is 96209 words, the longest book I have ever written.
Three books.
I have now written three books.
And now I’m so excited!

As some of you know, I signed off the KP forum about 10 weeks ago. (Or two and a half-ish months ago, or even 70-ish days ago. Whichever unit of time most adequately communicates just how lengthy and protracted my hiatus felt to me. 😆😭) Basically, life got unus…[Read more]

@rochellaine What kind of illustrations are you looking for? Simple drawings or more detailed? Cartoon or realistic? Do you know when you’d need them? Also, are you looking for paid illustrations or free? You can view my work on my blog. I have done illustrations before, but only for myself.
However, there are many other amazing artists here on…[Read more]

@inkling-for-christ Ah! Nice topic! 😀
Challenge: Show
Setting: Fell off a tree
Cat watched Dog balance on the branch, wobbling then proceeding to bark every so often.
“When are you going to fall?” Cat asked, licking her paw.
Dog snarled, “You got me into this mess! Help me!”
“Don’t chase me,” Cat said.

@daughteroftheking Can I tell you a secret? *lowers voice* We never eat our gingerbread houses. Whoever made these kits did not make them for human consumption—the gingerbread is as hard as concrete. @supermonkey42 I’m guessing that’s what he’s doing… hiding them somewhere and then preparing them to serve him. Actually, mightn’t those students actually have become the Knights of Ren? In which case, @ethryndal, that gives them a little more setup to be the supervillains of Episode 9… on top of the point that they don’t actually need as much…[Read more]

@ethryndal You know, I didn’t think of that. The Emperor is only in the originals for a minute or two before Jedi, and that does work. Although the difference there is that we see Darth Vader, in his own right an extremely powerful antagonist, following orders from this mysterious emperor. Palpatine is made to be a big deal. Whereas, the Knights…[Read more]
