@That_Writer_Girl_99 Imma side with @Ethryndal, but I see where you’re coming from. My sister Elizabeth agrees. 😉
My beans with genuine characters is… if they’re ONLY genuine, they fall kind of flat. They need to be dynamic too, and Luke leaves things to be desired in that area, especially considering he’s the hero.
The thing about ‘useless’…[Read more] -

Exactly. He isn’t an incredibly ideal character, but he is genuine, and I think that’s what sets him apart from each of the other Star Wars characters. His hardships didn’t begin until he was much older, giving him that sort of “spoiled brat” vibe. Until, of course, he discovered he has to save the world. That tends to mature a person. @ethryndal

*snorts* I can’t say I see the resemblance.
Okay but seriously. You see my point, right? About Luke? @ethryndal

You know, I think what the two of you miss about Luke’s character is he’s…what, eighteen in the movie? Nineteen? Speaking as an eighteen year old myself, I think I would react similarly, if I was dropped into Luke’s situation.
Ugh, why can’t you guys dislike a more useless character? Lando Calrissian? Grand Moff Tarkin? Every single one of…[Read more]

Don’t worry @xonos-darkgrate @salome01w4g, I don’t like Leia either.
@That_Writer_Girl_99 Do you remember, when you’d just recently joined the forum, before you’d even made your introductory topic, you were on some other topic and one of the first things we talked about was Luke? I said I didn’t like him and you said he was one of your…[Read more]

@Dragon-Snapper @Ethryndal Guys, THIS READER IS THE SAME.
” I always liked it when my favorite character in a book or movie got beat up. ”
*extreme nodding* We’re like psychopaths, but it makes us love them more. It does. *hugs specific characters in mind*
And then feel a million times happy when they get happy again. -

@Ethryndal Oh don’t worry, it’s very tragic. It will be terribly sorrowful and thematically amazing.
And we must never forget the existence of redemption arcs.
We’ll get to actually read it in about 102 years, since it’s in the last book of the 11 book series, so there’s plenty of time for speculation.@Kate-Flournoy, if you start a topic…[Read more]

@ethryndal @xonos-darkgrate @that_writer_girl_99 Ah the thread is still alive! Does anyone else feel kinda awkward when no one’s responded for a while and that last post was yours? XD

I’m here @ethryndal
Okay, can we just talk about Luke for a second? I’m very disappointed in him. It looks like he straight up kicks out Rey? Rude, Luke, rude.
I want one of those fuzzy things too. Desperately. Even if @daeus doesn’t approve.

@Ethryndal you practically do… *coughs**looks at @Emma-Flournoy* *coughs again* Besides. You can’t tell my characters how to live their lives.

@jessi-rae of course I am serious, I live by Yoda’s rule, “Do or do not, there is no try” I would never pretend that I have a passion for something just to make my otherwise boring life seem interesting.
@dragon-snapper Well as the chief of security you are doing a pretty poor job stopping me from overthrowing the kingdom of pen.

@ethryndal *eyebrow raise* Then I think we should stop for a moment to understand the gravity of this situation. I called @dragon-snapper “kid,” and lived to tell the tale. I’m not even an elf. Wow. *basks in my own success* I will probably be insufferably pleased with myself for a while.

Heya Kapeefers!
I needeth opinions.
After various consideration, I’ve come across the conclusion that perhaps some sci-fi and fantasy names are a bit to…crazy.
I mean, the most famous names in fiction are Harry and Luke and Frodo and Bilbo. None of which are overly complicated or hard to pronounce.
So what about you? What do you think is…[Read more]

@Emma-Flournoy Why doesn’t this surprise me… XD
Well, be happy, because every good character I ever write is probably going to suffer mass amounts of torture. After all, there IS a reason writers are likened to villains…
And don’t tell me Denholm is a tortured character…
Thou art SHREWD, milady. XD XD XD
I plead the Fifth. Thou shalt discover for thyself.
Since nothing I just said is telling in the least.
Your subtlety will never cease to amaze me. XD
