I have a character who’s mostly serious, but I don’t want him to come off as boring and like a cardboard cutout. Does anyone have tips for how to write a serious character without making…[Read more]

MaverickÂ
“I’m headed to somewhere.” Maverick looked up as though he was unsure, yet he was pondering the reasons for even attending school.
Well, some people had to be there because they were just stupid… like Navin.
He looked back at Easton and Hallie and began talking so fast it sounded like a blur of words. “Anyway, yeah,…[Read more]

First chapter of my new version!!!!! WITH the twist!!!
And yes, Jraldath and Selena used to be Paynes….hehehe
It was a dark night-clouds moving from the west blotted out any light from the twin moons, and tendrils of fog curled around the two lone figures drifting through the streets of Lir.
Selena held…

Same thing here! I’ve been told to play sports and I’ve made… interesting attempts XD You may have been grumpy, Loops, but I’ve always been the player who was too busy watching a butterfly to notice an incoming ball.
And I mean that seriously, by the way. That exact scenario happened to me twice.
*Watches…[Read more]

Yes, and after all the entries are posted, we elect 1-3 judges who aren’t doing a story, and they decide upon a winner.

lol you’re not the first person to suggest that.
I’m not a very active or competitive person, sadly. My mom did make me play one year in jr high but I did terribly because I didn’t want to be there. Jr high Loopy was just a constantly overwhelmed, grumpy little storm cloud XD Kinda feel bad for my old coach

Oh yes Sara!! I do that allll the time! I’ve had multiple conversations with real people in my head, those conversations just never happen with those people irl. XD
Lol and then I forget what I’ve actually said and what I said in my head!

Oh yeah, the 2005 one. That and the 1925 silent film are the only two adaptations I’ve seen of the book, but there’s a lot of them. I like the original book a lot, so I’m not the biggest fan of really any of the adaptations, but the one with Gerard Butler has good music and some nice costumes (the sets are pretty cool too).

@esther-c Thank you very much for your opinion!
I agree: YA really does have things that don’t belong in such an age range. YA can be very disgusting, and I think that’s why so many avoid it. And it’s just so gross that people put such horrible things in that section, because YA typically are teenagers or young adults, and people are the most…[Read more]

Sooo, question.
I am advertising Freedom’s Fire as a YA novel, and I wanted to know what y’all thought about that. I def know that my books aren’t middle-grade, mostly because of some content being for older audiences (hinted or even shown…[Read more]

I write scenes in my head at night too! Sometimes I get great ideas, and then suddenly I’m too excited to sleep.😆
I do all of those too. Especially the comebacks I should have said to jerks and didn’t. And then I make up conversations in which I can say them, which is rather weird, since I really don…[Read more]

I may or may not have done something unexpected.
So you guys remember Jraldath????
Turns out….Lilitu’s dad is Jraldath.
And Jraldath is also Hanna’s father.
So Lilitu and Hanna are half siblings.
And Lilitu is kinda sorta, part Pythonos.
(please don’t hate me…..)

Riker lifted the container onto a sturdy metal shelf; he pushed the large box back,…
