@Northerner *pounds table* AMEN, AMEN, AND AMEN.
Well, Tolkien has undoubtedly influenced me, but when I try to trace my intentions for this project back to wherever they’re rooted he actually doesn’t come into the picture much. I think… my whole life’s experience so far has been the influence for that idea. 😛 The storyworld began disgustingly…[Read more]

Tagging @Daeus and @Hope for being the most amazing beta/alpha readers and writing buddies anyone could ever ask for. You guys have both seriously been major instruments in my writing journey and I wouldn’t be where I am without you.
Also tagging my numero uno fan, @Emma-flournoy. Yeah, yeah. We’ve said all the sappy stuff a million times over.…[Read more]

@Waterlily @Daeus whaaaa…? You want me to sum up my WiP? Wow…
XD
Okay. Here goes.
The premise sounds pretty typical come to think of it. Harold is the second son of a king, and when he was nine years old he met a weird stranger in the streets of his father’s city and was subsequently cursed with the ability to generate and manipulate fire.…[Read more]

@Sam-Kowal ha! Well, remind me, and I will. ;P
And YES. Depth is everything. If you can boil your entire world down to a single deep, resonant core story/concept, so much the better for you. Hard to stress enough how important that is. Focus on what you have and make it so magical you don’t have to go look for other things to distract you.

@Daeus I’ll have you know I was racing to get that typed out before you posted and said all my stuff for me. XD
No, good points though. Maps are important… I have them… in my head… XD Allegorical and historical elements too. Oooh ooh, in fact @Joy, I actually have a cool thing for you. Four ‘pillars’ for you to figure out, that’ll give you…[Read more]

@Joy excellent question. Someday I want to write a book on worldbuilding, but I’ll try to refrain from dumping the entire tome off on you right here. XD
The first thing, I think, is to realize that worldbuilding is not so much a list of facts about where your story takes place as it is a key— like the key on a map— to discovering why your…[Read more]

@Dekreel basically what has already been said. I struggle with this too. Especially recently. I found an author whose skill in my chosen genre is so crazily far beyond my own I don’t dare dream I’ll ever reach it.
And much as I hate to admit this, that thought drives me absolutely bonkers.
It’s not that I’m jealous of him, just that I loathe…[Read more]

Hey, I happily take the credit for all those terrible (awesome) things if it means I helped you grow even the tiniest bit. Thank you. I’m glad. Keep going. 😉

@devastate-lasting super cool! Thanks for tagging me @Daeus.
The primary reason I use notebooks is so I can have something to jot notes in when I’m not at my computer, but this looks like an awesome program for organizing stuff, which I need lots of help with, 😛 so I’m going to check it out!

@Sam-Kowal ooh I really like it! Super cool concept. I think I’d definitely pick it up and read it.
On a more writerly note, the synopsis itself is well written, but it does seem a little choppy in places. It may simply be a case of too many fragments. Also, this is bugging me a little and it’s probably just me. But the voice is inconsistent……[Read more]
