This has nothing to do with catching trout. No, but it has to do with our hook. The first sentence, page, paragraph, chapter.
I’ve lost he fine art of coming up with a good hook, so, if you all have any tips, that would be most appreciated. In addition, if you have a book that has a great hook/starter sentence, then I would be glad to see those…[Read more] -

@emma-flournoy Ok, how about this?
Matthew is sworn to avenge a murder. His dedication to his wronged family could bring him through any trial, but his youth and inexperience hold him back. Setting out to find new strength, he plummets into a tangled mess of desperate plots, tragedies, and the vague shrouds surrounding his destiny from a dying…[Read more]

@emma-flournoy, Yeah, it’s pretty strange, I’m definitely not ISTJ. But aside from my introvertedness, I am pretty much fully ESTJ 🙂 (especially when I am doing something I really enjoy.)
@i-j-anderson, you probably would enjoy this conversation. 😉

Alright, folks. So I need your sharpest analytical minds here. You see, I kinda need a finished synopsis today so I threw one together last night and would appreciate your best criticism on it. If you ever feel at any point in the synopsis that it has dipped in interest, that it sounds jerky, or that there could be better wording, please let me…[Read more]

@emma-flournoy Wait, so Rogue One isn’t going to be part of its own trilogy? I thought I had head that was going to be the case… I hope not! 😀

@emma-flournoy Oh, good, so I’m not weird for not looking forward to it. I feel like, it’s not the original characters (I think Darth Vader may be in it, but I dunno *shrug*), so I don’t really care about it as much. I may be totally wrong when it comes out (my brother and I think my dad both want to see it), but I’d rather get on with this new…[Read more]

Okay, Ohio people, check your calendars for January 7th. I want to have another Writer’s Gathering, 10-2, at Lifeway Christian Book Store. Nothing is final yet… I’m still working out the details… but let me know if this works for you all. I’d like to do this before spring semester starts and I lose my mind until May. (Just kidding, I fully…[Read more]

Yes, I decided to go with a omniscient, narrator sort of voice throughout the book, but who knows how that will work. Here’s a bit more, and yes this is wordy @daeus, but I sort of did that on purpose, and sort of not.
Now, I hope you know that twins mustn’t always look alike, and in fact most times are quite different, so please do not suppose…[Read more]

He was deliberately hitting his own wounds to give himself the pain and anger to be strong in the dark side. Can you say ‘heartbreaking’?
I thought that was to get his adrenalin running, but that also makes sense and is incredibly heartbreaking and sad! Like, makes me almost want to maybe cry, and I’m not a crier when it comes to…[Read more]

@emma-flournoy Oh Emma! For some reason I wasn’t notified of your first (really sweet 😉 ) comment! Of course you didn’t say something wrong! That’s very sweet of you to say and encouraging. Honoring my parents is sooooo important to me (as it should be) but very difficult to do sometimes. My posts have even been convicting to me. (I said this I…[Read more]

@emma-flournoy Do you think it would be a good family read? Mommy’s trying to find a good classic for us to read together.

@Rolena-Hatfield Whew! I didn’t think there was anything there you would have taken offense at…certainly not. 😛 I thought it might have been malfunctioning notifications, but wasn’t sure. Mebbe I just should’ve tagged you again, instead of making you think I was afraid I’d offended you. *sheepish grin*
Anyway, you are so welcome; you’re such a…[Read more]
